In the history of college admissions have one of the top schools ever accepted a student after rejecting them? I know this sounds so completely rare, but I was just wondering. Like, if they feel like they made a mistake, has it ever happened?

One parent who posts here mentioned her daughter who was rejected, took a gap year and reapplied and got accepted. I recall it was quite a competitive school too.

I had a dream about it…

…but then I woke up. :(

Someone might get the wrong letter and it says they are rejected but they were actually accepted.

or if they appeal.

Transfer apps?

but have appeals ever worked at the top schools? the only time i hear about them is california schools. it seems impossible.

yeah I know someone who got rejected at a top 20 school then got accepted after doing something development casey. it wasn’t exactly donating money/buildings, but something related to that

A top tier school would never accept someone after a rejection(the same year), even if they have made a mistake. Think about it, hope it’s obvious to all.

sometimes, reality sucks.

False. There was a case a while back where a man was rejected by Columbia because they confused his name with another applicant- he was offered admission a year later after the university realized their mistake.
