Rejected? Feeling down? Smile!

Hey guys, I am a transfer waiting for my decisions, and I just want to say something to the freshmen out there. I learned things the hard way, so I just want you guys to know a few things.

First of all, congrats to those who got in. For those who are waiting, please don't fret. Just because the stats is not on your side, it does not necessarily mean that you won't get in. Don't... start looking up the stats of those who got accepted and then "crystal ball" your chance. (YOU KNOW you do this). Strange results (miracles) do happen, haha. Been there, seen that.

If you did not get in, please don't be down, or try not to. Really, luck has something to do with it. Don't feel bad. If a particular campus is really where you want to be, go to a CC for 2 years. You save a lot, and trust me, if you're determined, you will not be stuck there. Also, once you get the diploma, guess what? Same thing + less loan on your shoulders. If you are the type that cries over this (don't lie, you know this is true for some of you), STOP looking at these stats and compare yourself to others. This makes everything worse.

Also, guys, avoid wondering why people get in when they shouldn't have. Be happy for them. Everything happen for a reason.

You might not believe me, but honestly, I know people who went to a "popular" campus and hate their job. Undergraduate schools do not determine your future, lol. Everyone of you are unique; don't let the campus admissions tell you who you are. After all, Bill Gates did not get anywhere education-wise but hey, $58 billion net worth is not bad, eh?

Anyways, sorry for rambling on but I just thought this might help. I was in a horrible state this time, 2 years ago, so I just want to be here for anyone who needs it. If you think I wasted your time, I'm sorry, x].

Finally, smile, relax, watch some comedy. Be happy! If you have any question, feel free to ask.

SmileYO

Thank you so much, so much for this.

my belief exactly. You know, what who needs college?! (joking)

Just imagine yourself a year from now, giving sage advice to all the current juniors (like myself). You’ll feel wiser immediately.

Bill Gates did drop out… but he still went to Harvard for a couple of years.

Veracity, I think you missed my point, lol. Thanks for the clarification though. :]

This was encouraging.

… and I will never compare myself to Bill Gates. Haha, just saying.

thanks! i really liked what u wrote and this is encouraging. during the past 2 weeks, i have been rejected 3 times and the feeling is horrible. before the rejection i had hope of getting into a college. then i got rejected, rejection after rejection i felt like a total loser and had no hope in life. i wondered why some people got in and why i didn’t and kept comparing myself to others… i cried and felt really depressed, but as the days went by i started to get over it because everyone has to move on in life and theres no point just crying about something that cannot be changed. i believe luck does play a role in getting into a college and EVERYTHING DOES HAPPEN FOR A REASON.
