Same here. By parents combined make 61K...It said Income over ceiling and I was ineligible for both. I asked me counselor about it, she didn't know much either...

any idea what the ceiling is?

From the website:

For the Cal Grant A and C programs, the 2006-07 year income ceilings for dependent students & independent students with dependents other than a spouse are $83,600 with 6 or more family members, $77,500 with 5 family members, $72,300 with 4 family members or $66,500 with 3 or $65,000 for two in the family. The dependent student asset ceiling (parent's assets) for the 2006-07 year is $55,900.

For the Cal Grant B program, the 2006-07 year income ceilings are $45,900 with 6 or more family members, $42,500 with 5 or more family members, $38,000 with 4 family members, $34,200 with 3 family members, $30,300 with 2 family members and $26,500 for single students. The asset ceilings are the same as for the Cal Grant A and C programs.

so.. according to that.. im pretty under the ceiling.. that is so weird.

perhaps your parents have more than $55,900 in assets?

we paid off a house that is valued at 500K does that count?
