I have just finished 63 credits at a community college in Arizona. However, I was born and raised in Michigan and graduated from high school there, moving out on my own to Arizona at age 18. I obtained an associate's degree for transfer from the school and finished with a 3.8 GPA. I had decent/good ECs and a good letter of recommendation (albeit an average essay), and I also scored a 30 on my ACT. However, I was rejected by LSA for Fall 2013 admission.

I sound a bit bitter but my rejection does make sense. In my letter, the LSA admissions office said that I lacked sufficient transferrable credits from my university. I didn't anticipate that, but given the fact that I was first and foremost fulfilling the requirements for my CC's general education requirements it stands to reason that this would differ from Michigan's. Overall I can totally understand the decision, and I was invited to reapply after fulfilling LSA requirements (which may just be a throwaway response they give to any rejected transfers, I'm not sure).

If it comes down to it (that is, I'm rejected from my other 4 schools), I intend to move back home to Michigan and enroll in community college there, transferring any credits I can to that institution. Presumably I'll have better advising as to which courses I should take to transfer to UMich, and I would assume preference would be given to Michigan community colleges. Does this sound like a smart idea? I don't want to lose all my credits as I transfer to another CC, but if it betters my chances of getting into the school I'd be more than willing.

(If this question would be better answered in the "transfer" forum feel free to move it)
