Hi guys, I'm currently in a stressful situation and I don't know what to do. I'm currently a junior transfer and I went from State -> CC ---> hopefully transferring to a UC. I applied to UCSB, UCD ( my safeties), UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB this year and got rejected from all of them except UCD. I got waitlisted at UC Davis and that's all. My only hope right now is accepting the waitlist from UCD and praying that they'll accept me. The thing is, I'm not a freshman transfer. I've completed all the required units from my first three years at State and Community College. The worst case scenario right now is that I don't get accepted to UCD( which is very likely) and I have no where to go. I would have to wait one WHOLE YEAR in order to apply to schools again with no chance of boosting my GPA. I already have taken a combine total of 70+ units. One more side note about me: I did horribly at the state university I originally attended, but at the community college, I completed 45+ units and got a 4.0. I was ecstatic and was hoping that I would get accepted in to AT LEAST one of these schools. Having said all this, I'm just wondering if the internet has any advice on how to proceed with my current situation. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Gosh that’s brutal. I’m sorry to hear that. Was there any reason why you couldn’t TAG to any UC’s? It guarantees admission to one school. If no reasons deter you from tagging, maybe you can TAG next application cycle.

Appeal appeal appeal!

And some schools do take more than 89 units, just not more than 89 upper division units. I’m at 90 total units, with a couple upper divs. School just won’t give you credit for more than 70 towards graduation. So you could take more classes to boost your GPA.

appeal… Should i mention the fact that none of the UC’s accepted me and that although I did mess up at my state college, that I received a 4.0 at my community college and " turned a new leaf", if you will?

I was in very similar situation and I got through it. I just checked I have in excess of units (right now I’m standing at around 85+ semester units at CC) and I too originally started at a state school (two years, left with a 1.8 gpa, had about ~47 semester units). There is hope, I would suggest talking to one of you counsellors as soon as possible and see how likely you are on getting a TAG for next year. Also, I think it depends on the major. For most stem related majors they usually forgive your units going a little high (not sure). Like others have said appeal, it won’t hurt at the moment.

For the longest time I was not eligible for Davis tag, and only last year was I able to apply for tag due to some policy change (sorry don’t know the details). So going to cc for another year could be an option, so don’t lose hope yet.

Appeal! That is some BS!!

Did you retake your classes from the csu when you were at your cc?

@swimsowild I’m retaking two of the classes this semester so they’re currently in progress. Thing is I switched majors from EE to Econ and some of my failed classes from the csu were EE courses so I can’t really retake those… But I haven’t retaken Physics because Econ doesn’t need Physics as a pre-req and I don’t need Public speaking for UC’s so I haven’t retaken those two ( yes I failed public speaking… long story). At this point, I’m just praying that UCD will accept me from their wait list because I really dont want to wait another year…

@CooCooCaChoo25 @ajmarr any tips on what to write for the appeals? I’ve been reading that appeals are rarely accepted

@Kazgruk giving it a shot is still better than doing nothing! 3 of my friends appealed with UCSD last year all got in!

Add new information / don’t follow the same pattern you did before.

@miinhdadream Really?!.. what did they say on their appeals? The UC’s said that they need " NEW and compelling information that was not previously on the application." My situation doesn’t really contain new information…

@Kazgruk i rmb they told me that since they didnt have any new information, they just wrote how great the school is, how badly they want to attend, and how it is the best suit for their majors, etc. I am not really close with them so that is all i know.
