You didn’t plan this thing all that well.

yes you had very good chance at BU but the chances are never 100%.

LOR=Letter of Recommendation.
LAC=Liberal Arts College

It’s CC (College Confidential) shorthand.

That’s really unfortunate. Did you not even make it to the waitlist for NYU and BU? I got into Johns Hopkins but got waitlisted for NYU, which was a big surprise for me. I heard that the waitlist for NYU is relatively easy to get off of compared to other schools, so if you were waitlisted, definitely get on that.

I am very surprised you didn’t get into NYU and BU. Ivies are obviously all crapshoot, so you shouldn’t feel bad about yourself or anything like that, but I think your chances at BU was great. I really find nothing wrong with any of your statistics.

Being an international student, SAT’s cannot possibly be much higher than those who studied in the US. I was an international student as well, and I didn’t see many internationals around me who got an exceedingly higher score than what you got. Plus, your score should relatively fit in with the range of NYU and BU. I have a friend who did way less extra curricular activities than you, with similar academic stats (I think she had about 2100 on her SAT’s, which is around where you are), and she made it into NYU.

I honestly think either you were EXTREMELY unlucky or your counselors/college aids at your school made some kind of mistake you were not aware of.

Make sure you apply to colleges with later deadlines and try to transfer to the schools that you originally wanted to go to.

Good luck to you.

You should definitely look into Clemson and see if you like it. I think the deadline is May 1st. I have a friend who goes there and he loves it.

I second taya1152’s first post. this is extremely suprising to me.

good luck to you

If you got rejected from your safeties, then they weren’t safeties. Unless they have Tufts Syndrome. :)

Did you apply to UK universities?

They are very conversant with IB and your points seem to match a lot of good UK /Scotland universities.

What were the 5 courses/Univs that you applied through UCAS and what were the kind of conditions?

You can also consider UCAS Extra/ Clearing

Goodluck - there IS hope!
