rejected from BC.. give up on ivies?!

<p>with a 2280 superscored, 3.5 UW and 3.9 W (i know.. low gpa..) ..my ec's were pretty good with awards, teacher+counselor recs great.</p>

<p>spent a lot of time on my essay. I had a low gpa (but all aps and honors) so I tried to make it up as much as possible with the rest of my application.</p>

<p>well, i've been accepted to NYU yestrday. today, I got rejected from BC.</p>

<p>Should I give up hopes for ivies?</p>

<p>I mean, BC didn't have a supplement section. and for the other privates that DID have supplemental essays, I tried to show a lot of interest in that school through that extra essay. I don't know if it would have made a difference if I had been able to do that with BC.. but I'm pretty disappointed, I didn't expect a 100% acceptance but I wanted at least a waitlist letter..</p>

<p>When my highschool history teacher was applying to college, a friend of his got rejected from Oberlin and accepted at Harvard. This would have been back in the late '80s. Based on your stats, I think you stand a chance at some of the Ivies. College admission decisions can sometimes be confusing.</p>

<p>my sat subject tests were math iic 780, japanese 790 and literature 700 by the way… if this makes any diff</p>

<p>My dad was rejected from UCLA and Berkeley, but accepted by Harvard, so I think you still have a chance (:</p>
