hey guys, i was wondering if i have a shot at appealing for EECS at berkeley... my stats are

SAT1: 2090
math2c: 800
ush: 750
bio:760

swim team capt 2 years, var swimming 4 years, drama 3 years
300+ community service hours
president of physics club, link leader (2 years), student ambassador, national honors society (3 years)

ranked 3rd in class
GPA: cumm- 4.25
senior last semester: 4.65 gpa

10 AP classes: 6 this year (econ, gov, stat, calc, physics, english)
3 junior year( 5- APUSH, 4- comp sci, 3- chem- no ap chem class offered)
1 soph year(4 on bio)

I was wondering if these stats were really that low compared to those ppl accepted and if even without a "good reason" i should appeal and may possibiliy get accepted. Thanks for your time and ur response in advance.

That's OK. You're still a good person. Hey if I was working at Admissions for Harvard I would have admitted you in a second. :)

Here's a diversion to fool around with...
Directions: Repeat until the urge to appeal or the deadline passes, whichever comes first.
***** (or insert curseword of choice) Berkeley. I don't care.

***** (or insert curseword of choice) Berkeley. I don't care. I know I'm a good person at heart, and I'm (I hope) in a lot of amazing places, my life isn't over, and it's their loss that they rejected me. I will not become a slave to Berkeley's ridiculous standards and appeal their rejection. I will not be crushed. I will not be put down. I will not be stifled. I will get into MIT in the future, and when I do, I will laugh at the Berkeley adcoms. I will become the next Bill Gates, and when I do, I will laugh at the adcoms, and I will publicly condemn Berkeley for rejecting me. (Stop)

You can appeal, but it's a crapshoot for anyone. :)

Yeah, i guess appeal if u really want to go there. But keep in mind that its always a longshot.

Also, you may think u want to go there now....but once youre in your first year you may regret it.

Berk EECS was my dream school in hs....got rejected, ended up going to UCSD and im happy.

UCSD EE is A LOT harder than i expected. I cant imagine how it is at cal. If i had gotten into cal and gone there i probably would have dropped the major. I know many hs friends who have dropped out of EE from cal and ucla.

Just know what youre getting yourself into, and be sure as hell that youre motivated (cuz that may change once you live on campus with all the distractions)

You were on the higher end of Berkeley's application pool, but being such a tough school, I suppose they have their "right" to reject qualified applicants such as yourself.

Don't worry about it. Try your appeal letter (but don't count on it), buck up, and I'm SURE you've gotten into other great schools.

If you don't have a solid reason to appeal your rejection, then I don't think you should bother applying for it. For reference, ~7% of appeal applicants got into UCLA last year... Just imagine what kind of reasons those people had, and then compound the increased difficulty of getting into UCB EECS, let alone getting in on an appeal.
