Please share with us what went through your mind when you saw you were rejected/accepted.

What did it feel like ? Did you apply for FA ?

Did you feel it was unfair ? Did you re-apply ?

I'm REALLY scared i'll be rejected. In the most literal sense, it will be the end of my life if I'm rejected !

Talk to me and share your rejection as well as your success stories please :)

Acceptances feel like the best thing in the world…especially when a school goes the extra mile to make you feel special and welcomed!

Well, I was wait-listed from one of my top choices. Even though it wasn’t a rejection, it was heartbreaking. I tried to be optimistic…because there still is a chance that you’ll get accepted of the wait-list, but no luck here. (I also applied for FA)

Anyway, I won’t be reapplying as I was accepted to Milton! (yay)

You know what makes March 10th really hard? When one of your close friends is also applying to some of your top choices. You try to be supportive but you know that if they get in…you most likely won’t (because schools don’t usually like to take two people from the same school). My friend got accepted exactly on March 10th while my accpetance didn’t come until the next day which was really hard for me…but it all worked out in the end! :/

It wasn’t awful, but my friends were very supportive of me. Throughout the whole day on March 10 my friends were helping me put it all in perspective. Also that day I received an amazing opportunity with singing. So, rejection/being waitlisted hurts, but a lot of it is how you deal with it.

Yep. I needed near full FA.

No I don’t think it was unfair. Prep school isn’t a right, and besides, this year was insanely competitive, especially for FA applicants.

Yes, I’m re-applying. I’m writing this from a hotel near a prep school I’m interviewing at soon.

Don’t be. Just apply, and don’t worry too much about the outcome. It won’t be the end of your life if you’re rejected, there’s life outside of prep schools. And besides, if you don’t apply, you’ll always wonder what might have been.

Good luck, and PM me if you have any questions.

I applied to Hotchkiss, St. Paul’s, Deerfield, Taft, Loomis, Kent, Canterbury. Waitlisted at HK and DF, immediately rejected from St. Paul’s and Taft, accepted at Kent and Canterbury. Loomis had apparently lost my application in the midst of things, and ended up putting me on some “second round” of admissions thing. Basically I fretted for ever 3 months until they called me over the summer and told me I was accepted.

Probably one of the most emotionally vacillating experiences of my life, but it really prepared me for college admissions.
