Rejected from cal poly, won't get into UC's?

I just got rejected from Cal poly.
I got accepted to long beach, san jose, fullerton and pomona though.
But because the states are suppose to be a little easier to get in and since I did not get into slo, does that mean i'll get rejected to all the uc's?

OMG THIS IS JUST SO SCARY!!

Has anyone got rejected from slo but got got accepted to any uc's?

If you’re dead set on the UC cache, you might want to check if UC Merced is accepting late applications (Its new and might be an exception to the deadlines). It’d be cool to be a part of something new and growing with the powerhouse resources of the UC system behind it. (Look what happened to UCI’s new law school’s recent first graduating law clas. They passed the test at unheard of levels of success.

Sounds like you have some good choices already too.

No, it can’t. If you are in the top 10% or so statewide you are guaranteed admission into at least one UC campus. They have a matrix of GPA and SAT scores that they use for the determination. See your HS counselor for details.

Cal Poly and the other CSUs admit by major, so if you applied to a highly impacted major, then you may be facing a higher admissions bar at that campus than the admission bar at a campus where the major is less impacted.

Cal Poly SLO is very different from other CSUs. It is as competitive as all but the top three UCs and way above UC Merced. You did get accepted at the other most competitive CSUs so you still have a good chance at lower tier UCs such as Riverside and Santa Cruz. I am pretty sure that most students accepted only at UCR among the UCs would probably be rejected by Cal Poly SLO.

Actually, Cal Poly is just as competitive as the top UC’s with the sole exception of UCB. Yes, you have a good chance of getting into a good UC if you qualify. As was said above, if you are in the top 10% you are guaranteed a spot at a UC. My kid was guaranteed a spot at a UC and was accepted to 5 of UC campuses he applied to.

By the way, CSULB and Pomona are great schools. Fullerton and San Jose are also good. Congrats! You already have some great choices. Guess what? CSULB and Pomona are actually just as selective as UCR and possibly more selective than UC Merced.

If you look at the admission thresholds at SJSU by major, you will notice that there is considerable variation in selectivity by major, depending on the number of applicants relative to the capacity of each major:

Info.sjsu.edu[/url”>http://info.sjsu.edu/static/admission/impaction.html]Info.sjsu.edu

I have seen (on this forum) a student that was rejected from SDSU and later accepted to UCLA. Like others said, it doesn’t mean anything that you got rejected, especially since SLO is competitive and because CSU’s in general give priority to local students.

I find myself in the same situation. If I got rejected from Cal Poly SLO what are the chances of me getting accepted into a mid tier UC like Davis or Santa Barbara? Political Science. GPA 4.0(UW). SAT 1500

1500 on SAT is quite low for UC Davis. did you take SAT II? I don’t know if your 4.0 GPA is the result of grade inflation at your HS.
what is your school’s API?

I did not take the SAT II. And the 4.0 GPA is not a result of grade inflation. I am not sure what API is.

API=academic performance index(it is the rating of your HS)

I would agree with most here. Especially for science fields that SLO is probably competitive with the top UC. Our S got into SLO for Aerospace engineering, but that was with 4.6 GPA and 34 on ACT. I heard some people with close stats get rejected. It’s heavily major specific I’m sure.

Rejected from Business as a transfer.

GPA mid 3.6, had everything completed with A’s in most of the prereqs except one.

Called up admissions, told me they had 1421 applicants with room for 81 -> 5.7%. There’s your clue.

Wouldn’t tell me the average GPA, but told me my GPA was “competitive.”

Fall 2012: AVG GPA 3.49

1361
135
9.91%

I’m not quite sure but I think it is 673.

673 is quite low for API. my school (in N.Cal) is in the high 800s.

Guess that I will have to choose between CSULB and SDSU. I will wait for UCD and UCSB to finalize their decisions but not expecting much. myboby123 did you apply to UCD?

Yes i did.
