I am grateful to have been admitted to GWU, but I am still undecided. I think they are diversifying the incoming classes by truly reviewing applicant’s credentials whollistically. In that sense, I understand what laurenrwp is trying to explain to the waitlisted/rejected people. Commitment and authentic interest in GWU is a must in able to persuade any type of admission officer. GWU isn’t my first choice either but I had a genuine connection with DC, among other interests I expressed in my application. Frankly speaking, applicants with higher test scores on the spectrum of GWU’s admitted students have the right to feel like they got the short end of the stick. Ivies don’t admit students just because of character and unique circumstances; they have to be smart and test well. The same goes for GWU- of course they would want capable students. The admission process is a combination of subjectivity (character) and objectivity (grades) so let’s not kid ourselves and say that scores are not an important factor. But for those who get offended that waitlisted/rejected good test takers who feel that they are more than capable of handling GWU’s academics (that’s what college is about right?) and turn around and say rich ED applicants with 3.0 GPAs and/ or minority get in anyway have their own skewed views of GWU. If you are truly an alum of GWU, I’m unsure if I like the complex you and other GWU students engender after graduation.

If you’re gonna quibble about colloquial expressions can you explain how one can “take a little pride?” Is it at the store? Can I take a lot? Is it the blue pill or the red pill? Which rabit hole will I go in?

Ok the thing is I definitely showed that I wanted to be there. I mentioned visiting DC and stuff and all of the things that I’d like to do with the opportunities at GW. I didn’t list any other uni’s I applied to.

^ When you visited DC, did you also visit GW? If not, then GW probably thought you were only using it because you liked DC. If you did, then I’m really sorry, it’s probably bad luck then. There’s also the diversity and demographics factor. Typically they admit more students from the Northeast. I heard that they’re trying to recruit more from Texas though. And if you’re not a urm, then it’s also harder. :/

That is NOT true. I’m a student with a 3.0 gpa and 2210 SAT who put “Georgetown university, harvard college, and rutgers university” on my other colleges i’m applying to in my supplement for GW, and i just got accepted RD. I think it all boils down to the “Why GW” essay, mine was unique& showed interest
