Got rejected from 8 schools today and got accepted only at 1: UCB. Though I can't say I'm happy with this, this will do. So what's it like at Berkeley? How does one gain admission into UCB's prestigious business school? Is it awfully difficult to get accepted into HAAS?

Also, how difficult is it to transfer from Berkeley to top Ivies (Columbia)? Thanks

It’s difficult to get accepted into Haas, yes, but I’m sure you’ll be able to get that stellar GPA while having great ECs on the side.

Not a good idea to ask about transferring out of a school on that school’s forum IMHO… but in any case, ridiculously difficult, probably even more so than getting admitted in the first place, since top Ivies are so strict about transfer percentages, unfortunately.

In summary: If you can’t even get into Haas here, I don’t think you stand a shot at transferring anyway.

hahaha mini me xD only I got waitlisted and had a second round of rejections and the only other things I got into were in the UK ($$$$) lol buuuutttt don’t come into berkeley with that attitude, it’ll only make you miserable :3

I’d say Berkeley is considered better than the ivies in a number of fields (engineering, biz, english…), though I admit, we all know how a choice between HYP and Berkeley would end up in most cases. I haven’t heard of too many people transferring out, but it should be easier than from other colleges since it’s more of a horizontal jump (remember, if you think getting in as a freshman was tough, now they are only taking a handful of kids if any). You would really need to take advantage of all the opportunities here (unlike other colleges, you have to actively hunt for them but there are tons of them everywhere) and have a valid reason for transferring - that’s what the main essay is about on the common app.

Getting into Haas is (from what I’ve heard) not that bad. You need to have some really good essays, ECs (preferably businessy but just show dedication) and stuff, but it really comes down to your GPA - esp. in the pre reqs…which are notorious for being the most “unfair” on campus (look up UGBA 10). Basically college apps round 2. Make sure you really want to do business though. The competition just continues as you go on, so you don’t want to be losing interest midway.
