Collection of Poetry with a short excerpt of critique by my country's most recongnized Literature/Theatre Studies academic

P.S. Any current Dartmouth students would like to read my admissions essay? It's pretty hook-ish.

I stopped reading after reading 3 facts: East Asian, International, 2120 SAT.

Very, very slim chances with those stats.

yeah just get the stats up… do good peer review

…you never know its not all about scores.
I just got deferred with a 2340
800 790 SAT iis

^agreed. my sat I score was pretty close to the op. i’ll read your essay if you want someone who’s going to attend in the fall.

I think you should still apply, especially if you say your essay is pretty good. I’ll read it.

^ it’s ok. It looks like you aren’t a fresher yet, not even a would-be.

which JC? I am in a similar spot, Singaporean, lower SAT scores, but higher SAT 2’s I presume. I guess the only difference was that I left Singapore last year to go to a UWC, from which I heard that Dartmouth likes.

not likely.

a lot of these responses are ********, not trying to start a fight, but they are. dartmouth is a little more holistic than “asian, 2120? no.”

maybe if you applied to a non-LAC, because that is what dartmouth is, then the university would put stats requirements on you and drop you because you don’t meet a certain sat cutoff or something. but dartmouth will definitely consider you for what you are. just make sure your essay doesn’t come off as fake and that you don’t sound supercilious or anything of the like.

I have no idea how to evaluate your awards and ECs, nor do I know whether your IB stats are unusually good.

But I will say that it is VERY unusual to see a male Asian student who is a poet, instead of yet another premed/engineer/business drone with an 800M. If I were evaluating the pile of apps from Asian internationals, that would catch my eye.

But I admit, I’m prejudiced. In favor of poets.
