Rejected from UCD, how should I appeal?

I applied to UCD for Agricultural and Environmental Sciences: Environmental Science and Management major and was rejected however the only reason I picked that major was because I thought it would be easier to get into if i applied for that then transfer majors instead of just putting my original intended major (mechanical engineering).

It seems I have made an error on doing this because I have been told that Agriculture is harder to get into (because its UCD) than mechanical engineering? Or that there may have been discrepancies between my majors (i also applied to UCM and UCR as mechanical engineering and UCSD as Pharmacological Chemistry)

I got into UCM and UCR and they may have thought that I would just go there instead but some issues have come up which does not allow me to be able to live on those campuses.

I am now planning to appeal but I don’t know anybody who has done this so i am seeking advice on to what steps I should take next and how should I appeal and what I should say/and include in my appeal?

I have weighted GPA of 3.773 and UW 3.375 (on the low side. i was originally slacking in high school 3.5 weighted gpa in 10th grade but then i had a 4.0 and 4.2 junior year and i have 4.0 for 1st sem. senior year and taking 3 Ap’s) . I had ACT score of 29. 300+ hours of community service and also some awards including UC Davis Teen Biotech Challenge winner. I also am a resident of Davis

thank you in advance

I’m pretty sure it’s harder to get in as a Mechanical Engineering major since it’s impacted. And I don’t think schools look at what major you applied for at other schools…

there’s a woman who posts here who has a blog that helps students with all types of UC-related stuff, including appeals. she charges a fee for her services, but offers a lot of help/advice for free. askmssun or something like that. her blog is mssun.

Well just visit the UCD website, they should have the steps there how to appeal although they rarely grant appeals. But don’t worry, i’m actually going to be appealing myself so you won’t be alone. Just be sure to give UCD appeal committee a good reason to look at your application once more. Just be sincere and modest and just say how you may be able to contribute something to the campus. Good luck on appealing and let me know how it goes!
