ok… first of all (to the original question) i think that you can appeal…and you would have a 50/50 chance, I say this b/c uci has started waitlisting this year (i got waitlisted) and im thinking that once they get declines from ppl they admitted, they will got to the waitlisted ppl first before they go to look at the appeals…so, you could appeal but im not sure how much of a chance you have. in addition, i don’t think that changing your race is going to help much b/c for appeals they want to see completely NEW ACADEMIC information as said by Gryffon…ONE LAST THING: it would NOT help you at all if you tell them that you personally know of ppl w/ lower qualifications who go in…it is their call as to who to accept and deny admission so by mentioning such things, you will just sound like a snob…and you never know, the ppl who you say have lower qualifications might have had kick ass essays and might have picked simpler majors that are not really impacted?? so yea…that would be a BAD idea. ok im done rambling now…hope this helps ![]()
all the best to you!

yeah i got the same thing.
i have an above 4.0 gpa, 2130 sat score, 800/740 sat II score, took/taking 11 ap courses/tests, worked my ass off in school HOWEVER, i was rejected. lol.

sadly, i put this as my backup thinking i can go here if i get rejected from the higher schools i applied to. since i got rejected here… community college?

hopefully i have something to appeal for… if not. ■■■?

Do you have any other things to put in your application? Extra-curricular activies? Clubs? Leadership? Sports? Awards? Community service?

A UC GPA of 3.8 with 2050 SAT is not a shoe-in for UCI, I can tell you that right now.

Does anyone else notice that many very decent students got rejected from UCI? Can anyone figure out why? I posted my stats in another thread already:
4.2 UC GPA
1880 SAT
2 AP tests - One 4 and one 5
SATII: 740 U.S. History and 600 English

I’m disappointed I didn’t make it in. I know this isn’t a shoe-in… but I knew plenty of people with lower GPA’s and SAT’s who got in. Any explanations… or just luck of the draw?
