Hey, so I was rejected by UCLA (in-state) for Bioengineering. I'm still waiting to hear from Berkeley, Penn, Cornell, Columbia, and JHU (all for BME/Bioengineering). I've already been accepted to my safeties of UC Davis, UCSB, UCSD (for mechanical engineering), and Georgia Tech, and I've been waitlisted at WashU and Rice, and denied from N'western and Stanford. My stats are as follows:

GPA: 4.36 W/3.85 UW
SAT: 2280
SAT II's: 800 (Math II), 790 (Chem), 760 (BioM)
Awards: Cum Laude Society (basically means I'm top 10% in my class)
EC's: Ok, not great. About 100 hours of volunteer experience, and I'm on the honor council (leadership group) at my school.

Do I have a chance at any of the places listed? Thanks.

I think you definitely still have a shot. Your stats are great. I’m kinda surprised you got rejected, but I think it’s because BioE is a very competitive major. Best of luck with your other schools!

Berkeley: Match/high match (if BioE is as competitive as it is at UCLA)
UPenn: Reach
Cornell: Reach
Columbia: Reach
JHU: Reach (BiomedE is highly competitive there; if you wanted to attend JHU for humanities or social sciences I would have said high match then)

Ok, thanks for your guys’ input. My counselor told me that it’s usually harder for student’s in my school to get into UCLA than Berkeley anyway, and our school and Berkeley have a pretty good relationship, so I’m just hoping for Berkeley. But still, it sucks to be rejected.
