Rejected from UCLA, should I bother appealing?

I'm not sure if this was asked or not, but I was a little bummed out that I got rejected. I also read on their websites about appealing a rejection, and i know it's going to be a low chance to get in even if I do appeal.

But should I still bother to do it anyway? and for those who did get rejected, are you planning on doing so?

To appeal, you have to have new and outstanding information that wasn’t presented in your initial application. This can include a missing AP, SAT II or other courses that were supposed to be on your application, but were not, or were incorrectly marked as a college preparatory course, when they should have been a UC-approved Honors or weighted course.

I also think something incredible done outside of school could work too, like remember on the news when that high school girl developed a new molecule to attach chemotherapy drugs to to target tumor cells? something like that could reverse your decision.

Also, you cannot use the fact that you must stay in the los angeles area because of medical/family reasons because they will tell you there are plenty of other colleges in the area.

What about significant personal hardships that you didn’t mention in your original application?

@panther123, from my experience UCLA is not especially sympathetic to hardships. If you decide to appeal, make sure to explain how your hardships prevented you from doing well in school or how you’ve overcame hardships to do well in school.
