yeah it's always encouraging to think of the schools that you have gotten in already. it's just comforting to remind yoruself that you have somewhere nice to go.

Unless the "somewhere nice" is too expensive lol

I was rejected from UCB and UCLA as well =/

Id be surprised if both of you dont get in. Seriously. My stats were alot worse than yours and I got in....albeit it was through the RHP, but still. I for one had NO community service and NO job. All I had was good grades in a prestigious school with OK ECs.

Granted xixi your SAT score is a little low, but you have high SAT II scores, and you've been active in your community both in a job and in community service. Not to mention, you have quite a few awards, while I had three? One didnt really count because it just meant I got grades above a B- for those terms. In any case those awards look good.

I didnt have any internships-you had 2.

So basically the only problem is your SAT score. And studies show that a low SAT score has no correlation to success in college. And yours is only 10 below the average. By definition, average means that 50% scored higher than the average, and 50% scored lower than the average. So youre fine!

Id be surprised if you didnt get in. Also realize that UCLA and CAL are a little more bureaucratic (is that how you spell it) than USC because they are public institutions. I feel (and my college counselors feels) that there is more of an emphasis there on GPA, SAT scores, and awards, which dont tell the whole story. Thats probably why I was rejected.

You're a junior though.. I give you mad kudos for doing so well academically so far

anyone else wanna chance us rejectees?

Haha..

i didn't get into ucla either T.T

I see a trend. Get into USC=rejected from UCLA and CAL.

But admission rates are the same?!?!?!?!

my d finally (yesterday) got into USC for Spring 08 (of course she wants fall 07), accepted at Cal, and rejected by UCLA

go figure

she really wasn't too high on UCLA anyhow, maybe they knew this--we skipped the tour at UCLA we were signed up for to stay longer at USC, because we met a really cool prof who invited us to lunch and his lab meeting!

the only trend I see is random

hang in there everyone

there is no trend. USC, UCLA, and Berkeley all look for different types of applicants.

i am so depressed.........
my ONLY hope is USC
otherwise... i probably have to go to... uci...........................
all my work for 12 ys... gone to a waste
all the money spent on private school gone to a waste

^

I know I really feel you...

that's me.. once I'm rejected from USC, my "I dream of California" bubble will be officially popped.

i mean my EC's aren't that great... and i know usc looks for well rounded students...
how did i forget to put 6yrs-piano part in my application?

don't worry. there's nothing that can be done but wait and see the final outcome. you can't let these rejections get to you.. you just can't.

Do you want me to show you surveys done on kids who only got into safety schools and how happy they were? I think it was something like 90% of kids who chose their safety kids turned out happy. Maybe im just making up stats, but I believe its something high. So basically what Im saying is that youll go to a place that you are meant to go to.

ya you are right...
i should just wait...
hope there is some miracle...
that God will let me into USC

I mean i guess uci isn't THAT bad... i just never even dreamed of going there... especially since it was my safety...

God didn't give us UCLA because He knows that we deserve better education than professors with thick accents.. He knows we are too precious to be lost amongst these public school hoodrats...

So, He decided to make the elimination a little easier for all of us :)

USC
