You need a college level math class to meet requirements. Have you not taken a college level math course such as college algebra, college stats, or calc? Are you taking it this semester. If you haven’t met that math requirement, that’s probably why you did get in, and if that’s the case, then you also didn’t meet UCLA’s and UCB’s requirement. You NEED to consult admissions and raise hell. IF this is the case…

ucsb requires calc which i did not do
i did do stats however which is what la and berk requires

Complete the following seven-course pattern requirement, earning a grade of C or better in each:

Two courses in English composition.

One course in mathematics beyond intermediate algebra, such as college algebra, precalculus, or statistics.

Four courses from among at least two of the following areas:

Arts and humanities

Behavioral and social sciences

Biological and physical sciences

same thing happened to me…i didn’t pay as much attention to my safety schools and now look! they are no longer safeties!

Dwight, why would you go to uni if you’re working in the best office in the world?

Joking matter aside, I’m guessing you didn’t fulfill the basic requirements for SB, a maths course or 4 courses in the humanities/sciences etc.

There would be no other explanation.

will you have finished the IGETC? 60 semester units? that’s a BIG one.

maybe they think u r too good for thier school and u will never go there even if u got admitted?

WOW! This very suprising but if I were I would not get too down your GPA is high and you have yet to here back from other UC’s. I think Calc is what really did it for you. Your news is scaring the hell out of me but enough with that.
Smile and stay positive!!!

I thought no schools have sent out rejection letters.

I was also rejected.
I found out on the 22. I called and they said that my application didn’t even make it through the first round because I’m missing 3 units.

Dwight,

My gpa is significantly lower than yours and I did not do Calc

you really should have gotten in. i would be ****ed.

Gosh that sucks bad dude, at least you should get into UCB and UCLA.

So did dwight ever come back to explain or answer peoples questions on here?

There’s no way OP should have been rejected with a 3.9 because of not having calculus if another person with a lower GPA and never completed it got in. There’s something else you’re not telling us.

Is IGETC completed? Are you an out of state or international student? Was your essay extremely bad? I can understand if you were rejected by Cal or UCLA but for UCSB, it doesn’t make much sense.

There’s no point trying to make sense of It. His being rejected is a way to balance it out

IGETC is NOT a factor in this

“Students do not have to complete IGETC in order to be admitted to UCSB. The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is a series of courses that prospective transfer students attending California community colleges may complete to satisfy the lower-division breadth/general education requirements at both the University of California and the California State University.”

There must have been a unit issue. A huge gap in education? Maybe they checked your facebook and just didn’t like what they saw haha? i dont know, this one is weird. There has to be something other than the missing calc class. You gotta call.

My BF got into that school with a lower GPA this year (and the same major) and no SB pre-reqs specifically done (no CALC, he did UCLA pre-reqs). OP is not telling us the whole story… mehhh. I highly doubt someone wont make it into SB cuz they were “too good”. highlarious…

Was your essay hella snobby or something? Did it make fun of the kind of people that work at UCSB or something? HAHAHAHA. Ouch

Sorry to hear that… well… not really, you got into the schools you wanted to get into, right? Why would you appeal if you’re not going to go there? Bruised ego?
