I have been constantly checking my status for UCSB since the day they released decisions and today I found out I have not been admitted. I am a history major with igetc and preqs complete by the end of the semester. I was accepted to UCSD during the first batch, so this does not make much sense to me. Does anyone have an idea why. Does this pretty much end my chances at UCLA? This is really getting me worried as this was a backup school. All help is appreciated. Thanks

no idea. and no

A lot of people have not heard.

Ive even heard that some people who have much higher GPAs havent even had their app looked at yet.

Call them up at 1 and get some info

knightmight, read the post more thoroughly.

OH…

I thought the OP meant the he or she hadn’t been admitted yet and is still pending. I thought the title meant that he or she just gave up hope.

Rejected with a 3.6?

Are you sure you completed the app correctly and on time. CALL THEM!

I haven’t been accepted anywhere. Beggars can’t be choosers bro

Just call them- they’ll tell you why.

@aintthatabeach I don’t think anyoe is beggin because he worked for his gpa and meet the requirments

@ng called them up and see why you got rejected.

isn’t ucsd a better school anyway lol

I just called the admissions office. Their reason for rejecting me is because I am currently taking both my final English and Math class this semester and because they are in progress they do not find me competitive. I have never been in such shock in my entire life. My friends with 3.2 GPA’s are in and I just got rejected from one of my backup schools.

Hitboy: That may be true but I just find it strange that I would get rejected from a less prestige university with a 3.6 just because I have a math and english class in progress. My main goal is UCLA but I do not know how that will happen if UCSB does not even take me.

Maybe you didnt have the course sequence they wanted.

did you check Assist.org? maybe UCSB wanted different lower division preparation courses for history.

[Welcome to ASSIST](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

i had a very similair problem with ucsb dude…good luck

JanetheDoe: I thought that at first but that was not the case. the ONLY reason I was rejected was because I am currently taking my last math and english class this semester.

hmmm that sounds inaccurate, I got accepted last year from UCSB and I was taking two IGETC classes, Foreign Language and Statistics.
they accepted me with a provisional contract though.

I thought so too but that is what happened. I still can’t believe it. The admission counselor I called said they have many more applicants this year and cannot accept “people who do not have anything done”. 2 years of hard work and a 3.6 and im rejected from UCSB for classes I am taking and sure to get either A’s or B’s in.

wow that sux big time who knows you may get into UCLA dont give up hope. :)

English and Math requirements should always be the first things on your list.

Wow dude, I was uber-shocked when I read your post. I got in with a 3.3 for History, argh. A 3.6 should have definitely gotten you in. That’s just…wow. People who haven’t completed pre-reqs have gotten in (I think). You got into UCSD though! And you’ve got a shot for UCLA (better than me, even with my honors courses for TAP and whatnot).

take heart!

You have grounds for an appeal if you’re interested in going there. Apparently, not having english complete is a big deal. The same thing happened to…
