Rejected. Help Me Choose Now!

OK, Well I was rejected to UCLA, but I was accepted into UCSD, UCSB, and Pepperdine. I'm still waiting on CAL as I'm sure you guys and girls are, so I was thinking about where I should go if I were to be rejected by CAL. I am going to be a Chemistry major, and I already live in San Diego. Please rank these 4 universities (including CAL if I get in) and your reasons why I should pick them. State the pros and cons please! All opinions welcome and thank you! P.S. Congrats to all UCLA admits and any other college admits! : ]

Cal, hopefully you applied for the College of Chemistry, instead of Letters & Science

UCSD

UCSB

Community college transfer to UC

I don’t think Pepperdine has that much name recognition nor a strong chemistry program

we can’t really decide for you. It really depends on who you are. You should attend the school you feel will suit you the best. Rankings should not matter that much. Even though I got rejected from LA, I got into USC, and USC fits me more. Even if I did get into LA, I would still have gone to SC.

1) Berkeley
2) UCSD
3) UCSB
4) CC transfer to UC
5) Pepperdine

1) CAL - It’s Berkeley, your bound to have an awesome education no matter what you major in. Also CAL is just awesome overall.
2) UCSD - It’s a excellent college too. But many refer to it as the “rejects” college. Good for sciences.
3) UCSB - not much information on this one :frowning:
4) that’s it.

I’m on the same boat too haha.

my choices are

 1. CAL
 2. UCSD

thats it. lol.

Hope you get in!

I got accepted to CoC for Berkeley!! IDK how but I did! lol. I’m uber excited! : ]] (and i have never used the word uber before! jajaja)

why is it better to apply of C of Chem instead of C of Letters and Science?

Berkeley L&S gets you a B.A. in Chemistry; this is good future teachers, premeds, prepharms, etc.

CoC gets you a B.S. in Chemistry; this is good for people who want to go to graduate school or work for chemical companies

“CoC gets you a B.S. in Chemistry; this is good for people who want to go to graduate school or work for chemical companies”

–Really? Well I don’t wanna be a chemist; I wanna be a doctor! : ]

then just transfer into L&S chemistry at some point in the future

do you have any idea on why they put me in there? i didn’t even sign up for it! lol is it just cause I have it as my major?? it said only 168 ppl were in there… is this good or bad? which is easier to get into coc or l&s? thanks for the info btw

CoC is harder to get into. On your UC application you probably selected College of Chemistry instead of College of Letters and Sciences

really? and i dont remember doing that… i dont think they even had a choice for that maybe its because i put a bs in chemistry instead of a ba? idk but i honestly dont remember being able to choose… this is really weird lol btw do you go to berkeley?

CAL hands down for sure. Their chem is UBER crazy  congrats!!!

jaja ur funny uberly funny lol

Personally I would pick College of Creative Studies Chemistry at UCSB over UCSD. You get the social atmosphere of UCSB plus the studios environment and research opportunities of the special CCS program at UCSB:

[College of Creative Studies, UC Santa Barbara - Chemistry and Biochemistry](http://www.ccs.ucsb.edu/chem_biochem)

i would highly recommend not going through College of Chem if you want to do premed. a few of my friends’ gpa’s DIED, and the damage they incurred will probably prevent them from being doctors

just a thought

I think I wanna go to either ucsb or ucsd. Can anyone compare the two? Thanks

^Yea I am a Cal student. Getting out of the College of Chemistry is NOT a problem. I have a lot of friends who originally were in the College of Chemistry who switched into the College of Letters and Sciences without any problems.

hey how wats ur gpa if you dont mind me asking? do you regret cal and wish you wouldve went to a lower ranked uc or still enjoy it there? should i go to ucsd or ucsb so that i can get a higher gpa for medical school or is ucsd the same like cal or almost the same in competitiveness? thank you
