Congratulations to those of you who were accepted!

I’m in the same boat as you :’(

Congrats to others though! Now to figure out my 2nd choice…

I got accepted. Pretty happy right now. Sorry to those who weren’t.

Everyone who got rejected had higher stats than me- don’t beat yourself up.

Which is part of the reason I’m sad and I’m sure others are as well. It doesn’t make sense looking at purely stats. And it’s not as if my essays were atrocious… They might not have been amazing but still they were at the very least halfway decent :/

Well the rigor of school deff plays into effect. A few people I know with 30s or less got in from my school.

Got rejected with 30 ACT/9 AP’s, I thought it looked pretty good on paper. It was just crazy competitive. Don’t beat yourself up! NU was my dream school, but life goes on. There are plenty of other schools that would be happy to have all of the 28,000 people Northwestern rejected/will reject this year. Helps to put it in perspective.

Just for clarification: By rejection, do you guys mean you were deferred?

I think they mean rejected. NU defers VERY few people.

nope, rejected

Rejected. As have 4 others from my school (all of whom were on par or higher than me academically) and I don’t know about a couple others that ED’ed (out of 140ish in our class). Screwedover, college prep school. It’s rigorous for sure ¬_¬

They seem to just have a vendetta against our school this year…

I got deferred. Does anyone know how the numbers are (like how many applied and got accepted/rejected/deferred?

Also, how do you guys think my chances would be of getting in RD if I got deferred? I know I would take the chance to go there in a heartbeat.

I was deferred as well, so I’ve got the same questions.

my friend and i from the same school got accepted, but like screwedover, i feel like my stats SUCK

NU defers VERY few students. I am repeating myself deliberately. You have a real shot at getting in RD, but you MUST really “rock” your mid-year grades. That’s what they are looking for. They don’t defer for random reasons.

Anyone with over a 30 at my school applied to ivies, my friend last year 31 is at Harvard. Everyone is different!

I was deferred as well. A bit confused, but i just keep telling myself that I still have a shot. So, does anybody know how many people were deferred? I’m guessing quite a few.

They have only started deferring ED students within the past few years. Before that, it was either accept or deny. Unless they have radically changed how they do things, they have deferred less than 100 students per year. “The only reason you would be deferred is if we don’t feel we have enough information, most likely academic information, to render a final decision,” Watson said. “It’s pretty straightforward– no games or anything.” (Watson is Christopher Watson, the Dean of Undergraduate Admission.)

Hang in there deferred people. I think you are still legitimately in the running.

Another reason for the number of deferrals may be the increase in ED applicants, just get your mid-terms as high as you can and hope for the best! goodluck on finals(if you have them)
