rejected, now what??

pyroza- I know how you feel, i got into other places that I would be fine going to, and the cost is prett close, and I’m also waiting to hear back from more schools. But its not going to hurt you if you appeal, and i think if you get in after appealing you can still choose to go somewhere else. Which is why I’m appealing
 i <3 seattle

ok im a little confused. this is a really dumb question. but does volunteering count as an extracurricular?

@ilikeUW, yes

I’m confused about the application status so many of you are talking about… Mine just switched to “We have recieved all materials etc etc etc” yesterday, is that a good thing/bad thing/neutral thing?

they just got your app, but haven’t looked at it yet. the next status should be something like “we have reviewed…”

My friend got rejected over the weekend. 32 ACT, 2100 SAT, 3.8 Unweighted. Well rounded EC’s, apparently decent essays (so she says)

She’ll probably appeal, especially since UW is her dream school!

i got rejected and i’m appealing, i have very similar stats 3.8uw, 32 act, well rounded ec’s and great essays. uw is also my first choice too.

When you get rejected is your status changed from “received all materials” to “we have reviewed…” ?

It’s like that for everyone. The way you can determine if you get rejected is if your official transcript does not load.

how does uw send out their letters…are all rejections like at the end?

i know a few ppl at my school who got rejected today and i still havent heard from them…my status says like " We have received all materials …" since febbb! and im still waitinglol

I think they’ve been sending rejections throughout the whole admission process here and there. My friend got rejected back in January. But recently, it looks like there was just a big wave of them…

so for UW, is it easier to get in if you apply early? or does it not really matter (luck of the draw type ****)

The earlier the better. It will increase chances of hearing a positive answer early. Those who apply later-their apps will usually be reviewed later, decreasing chance of being accepted into a pool where others have already set the bar high. Of course, admission officers will tend to pick up apps out of order, at times, but generally the date one applies on is relevant to the decision letter.

thanks for the info.

and one more question. do they give out college apps before the first day you’re aloud to turn them in?

(im totally new at this college ****, im a junior)

They send out their letters in waves, and as far as I’ve heard they send most of the acceptances earlier on and then they start sending more and more rejection letters (but there are still more acceptance letters going out) , which is unfortunate for some of us cuz the day i got my letter I also heard that some of my friends also got rejected that day, so when i got the letter I had a pretty sure guess that it wasn’t going to be what I wanted to hear

But the earlier the better doesn’t always apply, sometimes its just luck of the draw, one of my friends applied 2 days before me and got accepted a couple weeks before I got rejected, and another friend who applied the day before the deadline heard back a week after my other friend and got in

Now most applications are done electronically, you create an account and log in any time you would like to add information/fill it out, and i believe that you are able to acess and edit your application until the very last minute before the deadline, but it is safer to submit/complete the application earlier cuz sometimes the server can crash or lose your info (yes i had this happen to me)

so my status changed today and my unofficial transcript uploaded. is that for in for sure?

yeah. congrats man.

S2 applied at the last minute and was accepted 3 weeks later. I don’t think when one applies makes a big difference.

So my status changed, and when I click unofficial transcript link “the page cannot be displayed.” I suppose that spells denial? Bummer dude.

I applied for Summer quarter however, does anybody have any insight into whether I would have had better chances applying for Fall or possibly Winter quarter??

I’m sorry to hear that mdcoward. Who knows if the quarter you applied for had an impact…
