Rejected QB Finalists?

Are the any Questbridge finalists who got rejected from a QB partner college? I'm a QB finalist who only ranked USC. Is there a chance USC will reject me? Does being a QB finalist kind of make me stand out a little from the other regular applicants or do a majority of QB students apply to USC?

My son hasn’t gotten rejected yet, but he did get deferred from UChicago. Certainly you can get rejected, and many do. I don’t think a majority of QB finalists apply to any particular school (except maybe ranking the non-binding schools).

I believe that being a QB finalist is a significant marker, like winning a state or national competition or excelling at a job or contributing substantially to a non-profit organization, etc., etc. Each college and each adcom will look at those things differently.

So, it’s not a guarantee. Be sure you have other options.

Thank you very much for your feedback. :)

I’m a QuestBridge finalist who was rejected by a QB partner (MIT). I was also deferred from UChicago. I did get a likely from Wellesley though…

Apparently, being a QB finalist is a pretty good advantage, so…

Also, USC accepts plenty of QB finalists RD, so don’t worry just yet

^Thank you so much! I know that I’m not guaranteed an acceptance but your feedback made me more calm and lifted a lot of worry off my shoulders! lol :D

Question! If I decide to only rank Notre Dame (because its my dream school), what will happen? It’s the only QB school I can see my self going to but I wouldn’t mind ranking other non-binding schools as well. Idk. I’m just confused. I read somewhere that if you rank only one school, that you’ll have a better chance of being matched which I think is crazy because the schools don’t see what order you ranked them…hmmm help me lol

I ranked Washington & Lee and Yale.

Got rejected to W&L but I ended up getting accepted ED 2 to another non-QB partner school where I got almost the same kind of scholarship that QB would’ve gotten me and I am really excited about that.

I had to cancel Yale before I could hear back…

To answer your question, being a finalist probably gives you a slight advantage, maybe its a “hook” for your application, but it definitley doesn’t guarantee anything

For QB match, colleges that you ranked don’t see the list of schools you have ranked, they are just notified that you ranked them and that was it. They don’t see if you ranked them #1 or #2 etc

Okay! Thank you! I will take that into consideration :)
