Rejected - Sad, angry.... scared

Don't worry about it... it's not the end of the world. Plus, you can try appealing.

I'm sorry Karupt. I know that it isn't fair.. but if you need help (I probably won't be much) or just someone to talk to. I'm here for you :)

Cheer up!

karupt, I definatley know how you feel.. I mean no offense to those that got accepted, but I found out today that I got rejected, and I have pretty good stats (3.9 Wg.p.a., 2030 on my SATs, tons of EC, top 10% of my graduating class), and I don't understand how people with lower stats than me got in. I keep hearing that the UCs will reject you if they think you're using them as a safety, but I REALLY wanted to go to UCD, and now I'm thinking that I don't even have a chance for UCSD. (I haven't even HEARD from UCI yet.)

Just wanted you to know that there's someone else out there in your boat too.. Although it probably doesn't help at the moment. Keep your head up and I hope everything works out for you in the future.

good luck karupt!

anunkindness, your stats are awesome. you should have gotten in. its crazy how the UC's seem to pick in choose who gets in. i dont understand the process at all. to me its like a drawing or something. and the rumor about how the UCs think you are using them as a safety is not true its just an excuse people use when they get rejected from a school they should have gotten into. i dont know, it just can be explained =/

I'm in the same exact boat as you man.

Karupt I know how you feel and was honestly in your same position when I was applying for transfer admission. I'll like to explain.......

Firstly, I was rejected from CAL and UCLA for transfer admission and applied to the Engineering schools for both UC's. The thing that didn't bother me was that I got rejected (b/c I had gotten into UCD) but b/c alot of my classmates with lower scores got into Cal and UCLA. I wanted to appeal so bad but was many times deterred not to do so b/c they told me that I was waisting my time. My friends and even family told me to just go ahead with Davis since appeal success rates are less than 5%!!!!

Anyhow, I didn't give a damn what anyone said....I had my heart on the appeal. I talked to my counselors and even got personal help....and with the luck of God, I reversed the damn decisions that the idiots at Cal and UCLA imposed on me. So, the essence is that don't take it as "it was fate for me not to get in". NO!! It's not fate...you need to fight it...

If you need some suggestions on what to write...PM me.

Davis was also my first choice, sadly I got rejected as well. I know a couple of people from my school that got in with lower stats... I was thinking it might be because of my major, Computer Science, being impacted. Luckily for me, Cal Poly SLO accepted me. Just keep your head up man, UCSD and UCB letters are still on their way.

Cal Poly is a great school as well. That's the only school in the CSU system that is out of place and doesn't really belong there. It can compete with many UC's.

nate

I'm sorry to hear your news, as I am in the same boat. But I have a question, I applied as an Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Undeclared major and I did some research on that major and found out that UCD is the 7th ranked Agricultural School in the US. Do you think that my mistake on choosing the major could be a good example for my appeal? My grades have also shot up from my 2nd semester junior year 3.5 to a 4.167 my first semester senior year.

I got rejected with a 2060 and a 3.7 UC GPA, Im kinda shocked

karupt, scared?? You really need to just take it easy man..no need to get scared over something like this. Reacting this way is only going to make things worse for you, believe me. I know people who've continued to let things like this bother them and it's been pretty detrimental to their lives. In the long run, hopefully you'll realize that something like this is really not that big of a deal.

I got rejected from Davis and SB :( 1910 sAT / 3.6 W / 750 math 2c / 650 bio E
and tons of extra curricular.

I guess a kid of my calibur is just not suited for 2nd Tier UC's =</p>

cryptcougar what major did you apply to? You have great stats!

cryptcougar - What is your UC GPA?

yea seriously. your stats are way higher than mine, and i got accepted to both. I htink you should appeal

my UC GPA is 3.6. I thought weighted meant UC GPA except for the fact that u negate taking over a certain amount of AP classes. (like if u take 8 they only allow a certain amount to count).

I chose Mathematics major. Um im not going to appeal to Davis I didnt really have plans on going there unless they offered me a bonus but as of now i would take it (becuase i've only been accepted to UCR). I'm praying for SD / I and from what I'm hearing I is easier the make then D this year.

I most likely wont appeal to this school. Only Irvine / SB if necessary.

I had similar gpa and sat with you.
GPA: 3.8 UC GPA
SAT: 1780
SAT 2: Math 2c: 780 Korean: 780 and American history 630.

This sucks!

wow, i guess i too am part of the rejected club. i just pray i get into santa cruz! is UC D much harder to get into than UCSC?

I think Santa Cruz is easier. But i am not sure. imma noob at CC

Santa Cruz is much easier, but it’s a bit harder this year than previous ones. I’m in the same boat as you guys. Santa Cruz was my only backup (and I’ve gotten rejected from everywhere) - if I don’t get in, I’m screwed.
