Rejected - Sad, angry.... scared

IMHO, anyone with 3.9+ UC, 1950+ SAT, 700+ SATIIs, and at least some ECs should appeal.

^Rejected with 4.2 and 2000 SAT is crazy… that’s like at least SD caliber

Seriously now? That seems a bit ridiculous. Those are some top tier UC stats.

appeal the decision if davis is your #1!
the UCs take a ton of appeals

I’m thinking that Davis is playing a big joke. A very, cruel mean joke. Or it could be that the people with “higher” scores have just gotten into the school they want to, so they got rejected from Davis since they wouldn’t go there anyways? (of course, my friends who are better students than I refute this theory…)

^..
really? omg.. dood.. holy crap this year is crazy..

Rejected… I know my GPA is low, but I thought my SAT and EC’s would really gimme a chance.

3.3 GPA / 2020 SAT / 740 SATII / ASB President, School Site Council Representative, 15th Congressional District Student Representative, Korean Student Association President, Varsity Badminton

SIGH…

dang, i thought the mid-tier UCs were more numbers-oriented, and i thought every1 here had some good stats

is it really true that if they think ur applying as a safety, then u’ll b rejected?
i thought they had to, since they’re public schools and all

Oh my gosh, kp.eric, you go to my school!!! Hahaha I recognize your extracurriculars (and your user gave it away too). It’s okay, a lot of people at our school was rejected, including me. Don’t feel too bad? :T

hmm…well if you read under the rejection (which I assume most everyone here got) it says that they had about 40,000 undegrad applications for 5000 spots…that’s a 12.5% acceptance rate…lower than UCLA and Cal…these ellipses cannot express how frustrating these numbers are lol

No, because there is a yield. If they accept about 50% of the 40,000 (20,000), they expect only around 5,000 - 7,000 to accept the offer.

And it’s ing ** because as tons of the guys here are saying how it was the first choice and were rejected and tons are saying that they got in and don’t want to go there.

They have 5,000 seats but they accept quite a bit more because they know people apply to Davis as their safety school, meaning they’re most likely not going to attend. The acceptance rate, as UCD Admissions stated in another thread is still above 50% but definitely lower compared to last year (58-59%)

^^ Sidra beat me to it =P. Best of luck to anyone trying to appeal.. It’s not going to be easy, but it is possible. I know a few people who got through by appeal.

Rejected with a 4.2 UC GPA, 1740 SATs (and 26 ACT). Oh well.

actually i have a nephew that was rejected with 4.0 UW GPA 2100 SAT. 5 APs (3-5 on all). rank 2/534. Some ECS not spectacular. *noted that it would be his top choice if he got in..

jmilton, is your nephew in state? If he is, he shall be ELC and I believe Davis guarantee all ELC applicants will get in. Some one please correct me if that is not true.

All these rejections seem fishy…

A lot of people from my school last year got in with 3.5 or lower GPA’s and less than 1600 SAT’s.

i agree. They think they want to compete wit SD. It ain’t happening

^ They can only take so many people. It’s not like they chose to reject more people this year or something.

“i agree. They think they want to compete wit SD.”

What are you suggesting?

At school today I talked to a lot of really bright people who were rejected. I heard of one guy with a 2280 and 4 years varsity sports who didn’t make it in. And the kids who have been taking all honors since jr high…

and then my friend with nearly a C average, a low SAT score, and hardly any ECs gets in. what?!?

^ I don’t think your friend with nearly a C average would get into any UC my friend…
