Rejected - Sad, angry.... scared

HAHA

10 char

I got rejected as well, fellas. The sad part is, that most of my peers got accepted whereas they had a much lower, and less e/cs than me. In fact, my friend with a 3.0 weighted got in! LOL.

the uc system, in my opinion, is flawed.

all we are are numbers to these people.

its not like i wanted to go to ucd, but it was my safety. i wanted to so to ucsb, so now that i got rejected from ucd i can expect my rejection from ucsb.

i hope the uc people are satisfied with their decisions, and they can go to hell

they accept people with 4.0s and above. hell i could have gotten straight As too if i took regular classes all through high school and wasn’t 2 years ahead in math.

i am so *ed off. i am so *ed off

I AM SO ****ED OFF fdhSJKFLHSLKFHDSIUFKEDHSWe8iwgf

Settle down! Being rejected from UCD is in no way an assurance that you will be rejected from UCSB. Why on earth would you think UCD was a safety compared to UCSB?

I agree with, xdarlin. It actually makes me really upset to think that taking all those AP classes actually affected my chances at getting in to a better school. All they care about is the GPA, I could have easily had a 3.8-4.0, if I had taken regular classes. What schools have you been accepted, so far?

the average gpa and test scores were less than that of ucsb. and my college counselor said quote “oh you’ll get in to davis no problem” what a pathetic excuse for a human being

ive gotten into asu, sdsu, csulb, and cal poly. ill probably end up at cal poly. which was my second choice school, but still. i really want to go to santa barbara and it sucks that some guy sitting in a desk with my application with a big number on it is going to take that away from me.

why did i take ap calculus as a junior?! WHY DID I TAKE SAT PREP CLASSES FOR TWO SUMMERS IN A ROW?!?!??!?! WHY DID I BOTHER TAKING PHYSICS AND AP US AND ALL THAT **** LAST YEAR WHEN I WAS GOING TO GET REJECTED BY UC FREAKING DAVIS

my high school career was a waste. i could have gotten into cal poly without trying. why did i waste my time writing uc essays and paying them 65 dollars per app to get rejected. this is ********.

That isn’t true at all for this year. While UCSB had more applicants for fewer spaces the overall UCSB applicant pool wasn’t as strong. Also UCD had by far the largest overall increase in applications this year. You might want to let your counselor know that UCD is ranked at #42 and UCSB is ranked at #44 which makes them quite similar…one should not consider either UC a safety in regards to the other. UCR or UCSC would have been a better choice for a safety.

Cal Poly is not easy to get into either. Without the rigor of courses you may very well have been rejected from there too. Cal Poly is widely regarded as being fairly equal to UCD and UCSB in term of applicants.

I feel your frustration, maybe you can appeal. I have no idea, what has happened to the UC system, it seems that even with a low GPA, you can get in, my friend with a 3.0 GPA got into UCD, while others on CC have gotten rejected with a 3.8+, quite surprising. Well, xadarlin, hope you get accepted into, UCSB. I actually think you will, since I have heard that they might have thought that was your safety school, so they rejected you, and accepted you in UCSB?

Well, good luck with all your educational endeavors, and I hope I get into UCI, if not I will be back on here LOL

xdarlinnikki, never curse out college admissions until AFTER they reject you.
UCSB hasn’t rejected you.

:[ im gonna go cry myself to sleep

Hey Karupt, Im in the exact same position you are. Davis was honestly my number one choice, i didnt consider any other option besides going there. I basically planned my whole future based on just davis and honest to god i thought i was a shoo in and any other year i think i would have been. I balled my little eyes out when I found out, it was a blow to my ego and to the 3 years of dedication in high school to the extra ciricular and course work i did.

Here are my stats of youre interested, theyre quite close to yours.

unweighted gpa- 3.7, weighted 3.9, sat1- 1840, math 2- 730 us history- 600
stellar extra cirricular.

Im appealing too but i have nothing to write about. I was like this is senior year, what more do i have to prove, so i sat back and relaxed. If only i knew what they rejected me for maybe i couldve wrote about that.

I think im in the phase of getting over the sadness and now just being angry and resentful. I turned into such a bittermelon, especially since i know other people who got accepted with lower stats than me and wont even be going.

This is so incredibly lame. Im scared that ill be stuck with just one option to choose from, UCI.

Good luck on your appeal, im sure itll all work out for the best

I have never seen my sister look so defeated by something. Getting rejected hit her hard because now she doubts she will not get in anywhere. She cried non-stop for several days, but I think she has calmed down.

It seems like this school really did change some of its admission practices this year…

It’s not just UCD go and read in the UCSD and SC forums.

yes my D got in SC but not SD but I was surprised to see so many rejections at UCSC to folks with good stats(3.7/2000)

“If only i knew what they rejected me for maybe i couldve wrote about that.”
-glucose overdose

totally! If we don’t know the specific reason why we got rejected, how are we supposed to appeal!

They probaly don’t want appeals.
