Has anyone been rejected/waitlisted/deferred to UIUC with a 3.8w GPA, top 15% rank, and 1250 SAT or know anyone who has? If so, please post stats and major you applied for. THanks.

hmmmm mine is just about that.
3.9 GPA
top 12%
ACT 32
Applied for business, said that they were "FULL", so they offered me economics and said I could trasnfer in give or take 2 years. I cursed them to Hades but decided oh why not and accepted.

I had a 3.9w (3.4uw) and a 31 ACT. Applied to b-school in October, told me they were full in February. Didn't even offer me admission to LAS, just wait-list, which I begrudgingly accepted. However, it looks like my backup (Indiana) has a better b-school, and add that to the fact that they're giving me money, and there's almost no way in hell I'll go should they accept me come June

Does it matter when you apply as long as its before the priority deadline? Like will it make a difference if someone applied early October vs. someone who applied early November? ....They both applied before November 15.

It seems like yes, because I know someone who applied September, got in, and didn't have as good of stats

Yes, I got rejected. Very suprising though, I got into Indiana and Purdue. I don't want to attend Illinois. Anyways, my stats :

GPA 3.8 UW, 4.0 W
1410, 2090
Good Recs, Good Essays
Founder of a Club and Held 3 jobs during high school
Sister went there and graduated with honors...

Don't know what happened, sorry to scare you less qualified students, but this is probably just a fluke.

This was my top choice also, and I was very disappointed to get rejected.

GPA 3.9UW
SATS 1430/2140
Recs: Amazing
Essays: Good
Junior State of America Chapter Founder, Mayor, etc.
Double Legacy

This school's pretty tough

Wow, I have worse stats then anyone here and was accepted into business. Guess applying early actually works here.

wow, mga120 and jmnpd, wut schools in uiuc did you apply too? you guys got very competitive stats. I had worse stats with a 1420(m+v) SAT and 3.1 UW gpa but got into engineering and applied after priority date. Weird.

I applied early for engineering, deferred then rejected RD. It's strange, because my essay shows that UIUC is my top choice.

mga120 and jmnpd, when did you apply? Do you remember approximate date? I am getting scared...

I think sometime in mid november, not sure

That is so sad. I feel sorry for your rejection...:(. Where are you headed now?

Ok, I think it's safe to say UIUC has some really messed up admissions policies. Cause half the stuff they do obviously doesn't make sense. Rejecting students who applied before the priority deadline, accepting students w/ low stats, accepting students w/ lower stats WHO APPLIED AFTER PRIORITY DEADLINE. Jeezee.... I think they need a new dean of admissions.

ya its absolutely ridiculous. Applied Jan 2.

Good luck everybody else

lil_killer129, I am headed to local CC here in Illinois now with the hope of transferring to UIUC. It was my #1, and I didn't apply anywhere else.

tennisfan88, I agree, I'm actually going to Urbana to attempt to appeal my decision.

jmnp, on the other forums you posted you had a gpa of 2.84 while you stated you have a gpa of 3.9uw here. If your gpa of 2.84 is true, maybe that decreased your chances?

Pangiummy, I have been caught in a lie. My GPA is in fact a 2.84. I was creating a ruckus here.

jmnbp
Don't even bother to try and appeal. I sent in an an appeal (you're supposed to mail it) with a letter of rec., a transcript w/ better grade, and a good appeal essay, but they said no. I believe they woudl have said yes, but the thing is: they don't have any more room. I guess that if there is no more room, they simply won't let anyone else in.

The guideline is also this: They will only consider your appeal and actually review it if you state that they made a mistake on their part. If you simply say: "oh, i really really wanna get in, i'm in so many clubs and got jobs yaddie yaddie yada." They won't care. The chair of business review is truly a stone cold witch.

On a side note: Does UIUC do rolling admissions or not???????? They said they don't.

they do, the fact that you already heard from them already means they are rolling. I got in december which proves they have rolling admissions.
