Rejected...then waitlisted?

On tuesday when I checked my desision online I found that I was rejected. :( but in the mail today I got a letter saying that I was waitlisted...is the letter the right one because it's "official"?

sounds like another great job by northwestern

^sounds like another bitter reject?

good job Northwestern. lol.
Just call them. I think the letter is the official one. Congrats on the waitlist!

well, to be fair zdub, northwestern really should have its **** together enough to at least provide consistent admissions decision to its applicants.

to give students the wrong admissions decision is unacceptable. northwestern is a multibillion dollar institution at the absolute forefront of academia, and its admissions office should represent it accordingly.

lol watch me really get a duke acceptance package instead of hte waitlist i got in the email. that would be the best surprise ever

Guess What?! The Northwestern Admissions office just called to tell me that I was indeed wasitlisted...and the online decision was wrong. They apologized and said that one or two of these "incidents" occur every year!!! Oh well...just happy to receive the good news!

Smooth year Northwestern is having with the 'net, eh?

^lol

(10char)

So we will not be sure until received the mailed package. Hope that is not the case for anyone admitted online and then either waitlisted or rejected by the US Mail.

Maybe you were one of those students whose file is so controversial, the Committee kept moving it from one decision pile to another (this happens a lot with highly selective admissions), and they just forgot to update the web with the very final decision. Nonetheless, that's still unacceptable.
