Hi everyone,
So today I just found out that I got rejected for a transfer admission for Texas A&M(FALL 2015), my first choice major was into the Economics School (Liberal Arts) and second choice was Cell Biology. I’m currently studying at LoneStar College, I have a 4.0 GPA, and have 24 hours (which is the minimum), and would have a total of 31 at the end of Spring 2015. I did not request for Financial Aid. I had a 3.5 GPA in highschool, which I did the IB diploma in the Fiji Islands. I am a US citizen.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY I GOT REJECTED?!
I also applied to UT Austin’s Economic and Biology school. Like I’m going to get into them.
Do you have all the courses on the required curriculum for your major to transfer?
Completed & transferable:
ENGL 104 A
HIST 105 A
HIST 106 A
MATH 102 A
ECON 203 A
POLS 206 A
PSYC 107 A
Currently taking & transferable:
BIO 111
ECON 202
ENGL 104
POLS 207
I Believe so, http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/majors
thanks
You haven’t completed the Econ 202 and the 2 Math courses 141 & 142 (unless you have other AP credit?) http://econweb.tamu.edu/undergraduate/prospective-students-transfer-requirements.htm
@AGmomx2 is correct. Also, you put your second choice major as cell biology but you haven’t completed any biology credits. Just because you have a 4.0 won’t guarantee admission. You have to have the “recommended” (required) coursework completed or the last of it at least in progress. For the work that is in progress they would ask for you spring grades before making a decision. If you really want to transfer, get those two math courses completed. If you want to do biology you’ll need to take some more science classes.
For biology:
A7.What courses can I transfer from another school?
For transfer students we require completion of two semesters of General Biology (Texas Common Course Numbers BIOL1406 and 1407) and two semesters of General Chemistry (Texas Common Course Numbers CHEM1411 and 1412) before transferring. Students must also have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 overall and in the biology and chemistry courses, with no grade less than “C”. However, the averages for students accepted is normally higher.

My daughter plans to go to Blinn in the fall for the year and then transfer to Education. We were told by the Education school’s head adviser that when she initially applies to transfer she will be denied because she won’t have 24 hours completed - some will be in progress for spring semester. But when she finished spring semester, she needs to ask them to review her file and she will be admitted. Maybe this is your case? Have you spoken with an adviser in the major you applied to?
