i received my rejection letter from UCLA via online and im wondering if you are rejected from UCLA is there any chance you will get into Berkeley

^ Yes, happens all the time.

actually, this never happens.
D:

Really? I'm in the same position and just assumed a rejection from UCLA is a rejection from UCB as well. Does this really happen?!

I would not be surprised if it happens...I remember a thread a year or two ago about everyone who got accepted LA/B but rejected at the other...

People believe that there's this weird syndrome where you get into only LA or Berkeley. This is obviously the exception, but happens all the time.

Don't believe Oprah guys: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/481188-la-rejections-berkeley-acceptances.html
I am rejected from UCLA as well but hoping for a Cal acceptance.

Absolutely not true.

It really depends on the major, type of people applying, etc. UCLA and UCB have different criteria for their selection of students. So don't give up hope!

My friend was rejected from UCLA but got into UCB. It happens!

I would assume it happens about 35-45% of the time. The stats of admitted students are almost identical.

In 2007, my daughter was admitted to UCB and rejected from UCLA.

She chose UCSD though. Life is full of surprises.

Good luck to each of you!

rejected! now i'm waiting for berkeley, too. i really wanna go live in california and study in either UCB or UCLA. I'm gonna believe there is a chance at still being accepted into berkeley

Dude keep your hopes up...i learned i was accepted to UCLA yesterday even though i was rejected by UCSD two days earlier.

Spring admission to Berkeley is very likely for many of you guys. It is very common for UCLA rejection and Berkeley spring admission.

If you get Berkeley spring admission, I am going to make it very clear, that does not make you a second class student.

There are many discussion about spring admission on the Berkeley board

Note: In March 2007, I was admitted to UCLA for Fall 2007 and Berkeley for Spring 2008, I took the Berkeley Spring admission and got into the Fall Program for Freshman and came to Berkeley in Fall 2007.

In 08 my D was rejected at UCLA and accepted for Fall at UCB. Chose Duke.

Of course you have a chance

Kking:

Anything is possible, but your gpa (3.37) and ACT (27) are both quitee low for Cal and UCLA, particularly OOS. What were your subject test scores?

There have been many stories, and I do mean MANY that have been rejected from UCLA and been admitted to UCB. Last year, 20 people that I know applied to UCLA 3 got accepted. The other 17, 9 of them got into UCB and the others went on to UCSD. It's a low comparison to the nation, but you can see the implications.

So it's pretty high chance of many UCLA rejects getting into UCB depending on scores and essays, since UCB actually reads them as well as UCLA.

I was rejected from UCLA, but I'm hoping for my admission for UCB. Even though it's a low chance for me due to my scores, I still have hope, if not, UCSD has a better BIOE program so it works out fine for me haha.

I'm still hoping to go to UCB because I want to get out of San Diego XD. But if not, I'm alright with UCSD. I wouldn't get bummed out with being rejected from UCLA. It seems like that's quite the case with many of my friends. Only two of them were admitted to UCLA, then rest were rejected, and again this is around 18ish people. All of them applied to UCB. So I have to get back to you on how many were accepted and what not.

AGAIN: DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE. Just because you've been rejected from UCLA doesn't not mean your AUTOMATICALLY rejected from UCB!!!! Have faith in yourself people! Took me awhile to realize that when I was rejected too! Hah!

<3 you all!
