Rejected, Waitlisted, and No Acceptances?

Rejected-Duke, Rice, JHU, NU
Waitlisted-WashU(they waitlist everyone)....
Accepted-My saftey

1500/2200 sat score, 3.8 unweighted gpa, 94/100 gpa, but only top 20 percent class rank....Applied to CAS, which is one of the hardest schools to get into Cornell.....FML

^ the same here!! waitlisted at UofChicago and JHU and rejected at Duke!! accepted at my 3 safeties ( i don’t want to go!) please can Emory take me??? i applied to Oxford also…

I am sorry. You applied (now rejected) to many top schools. What other schools are you still waiting to hear from? You may still have a chance at WU. Wait for a week or two then write a letter to WU, ask your GC to send in another packet to WU (latest transcript, a few more recommendation letters, a letter from GC, additional awards). This year yield may be lower, you may have a better chance on getting off the wait list.

Good luck on Tue.

I am waiting to hear from Cornell, Emory, Vandy, Boston College…

Not expecting to get into Cornell, Vandy…probably if I am lucky get waitlisted at emory and boston college…

I took myself off Finanical Aid for WashU after being waitlisted, because they are need-aware…Idk if that helps any…

Do you need FA? If not, you’ll have a better chance this year.

^^ Well, I don’t need any FA, but I applied for some anyway(just to see if I could get any) did not realized that WashU and JHU are need aware…I took myself off FA for only WashU… I still have FA for Cornell…

This is the year for full fare students. If you should get waitlisted at those other schools, make sure you write to them (or even have your parents do it) to let them know you would be happy to pay full fare to go to their school. For those small LACs, I think the yield will be a lot lower. You should not have applied for FA at any of those schools.

colleges00701 u and I are in the exact situation and have extremely similar stats!!

ACT - 30 (35 math and 35 english)

ECs: Awesome
Work Experience: Awesome
Essays: Good. Not as awesome as my other essays though.
Recs: Good
First-gen college student

I think my essays/activites stand out though.

JHU - accepted
WUSTL - waitlisted
Berkeley - accepted
UCLA - accepted
USC - accepted
occidental - rejected (hmm I thought this was the least difficult to get into)

Just waiting for cornell, penn, and dartmouth.

Good luck everyone!

Congratulations to everyone who is IN at these top schools. When I read your stats, you guys, I am more and more certain that I will be rejected by the rest of my colleges. If you and your impressive stats get waitlisted and rejected at these places, there is no way they’d want me. The next few days are gonna really stink.
