Rejected. What should I do to transfer next year?

I need some advice. I got rejected from USC, NYU and UT Austin for film school. I'm mulling it all over and considering not going to film school at all, but I did get accepted by LMU. Also by Fordham, but for liberal arts. However, these two schools are just as expensive as USC and NYU, and I don't know if it would be worth it, even for a year (if I could somehow afford to go to Fordham, I would probably try to transfer to NYU sophomore year). If I went to LMU, somehow, I'd probably graduate from there. But I'd most likely have to take out hefty loans, which quite frankly terrifies me. I was offered the CAP program for UT, which means going to UTSA or El Paso or Brownsville for a year before transferring, but I don't want to stay in Texas unless I'm going to UT. Or maybe just staying here in Houston. Would it be worth it to go to Fordham to try and transfer, or could I do it from University of Houston? I don't know, I have no idea what to do, and I'm pretty depressed. Any real advice at all would be helpful, thanks.

It doesn’t really matter where you transfer from. Since you’re not completely sure of your major it’s kind of hard to compare some of the schools. I’m not sure how the CAP program works, personally I would enter the CAP program then send out transfer apps to NYU, and USC. If you don’t get accepted to either of those then you will still have the option of being able to go to UT.

Actually, I’ve been thinking a lot of stuff over, and I’d much rather major in philosophy. I’ve read that NYU is fantastic with that major, so I’d probably focus on transferring there.

But I guess my main question is, would it be better to go to a better school like Fordham (but really expensive) or go to U of H, which is a step up from CC but not much more?

If you plan on transferring, it won’t matter where you begin. I know people who have gone to Community College only to transfer to Cornell and Columbia.

Hmm. Yeah, that’s what I’ve been reading on these threads. I didn’t fully think through cost this past year…so caught up in just getting in…but in the long run, I guess U of H would help my GPA and get some credits out of the way for a lot less money.
Thanks!
