Rejected.....?

@bignerd

Honestly I applied to UCB and UCLA for the sake of it but honestly Irvine was my first choice in terms of colleges I could actually get into. I have a 4.22 UC GPA and an 1850 SAT only two real ECs with no leadership or job experience. I only have like maybe 50 hours of community service and my essays were just decent. From 10 -11th grade I only had 3 weighted courses (2 of them AP). From what it seems your app is probably better than mine in every way so maybe the Merced thing might be nothing since there are a lot of changes this year to ELC

Nevermind I guess I am
Top 9%

This is going crazy. i hate to believe that my ELC is for Merced, no more no less. i really wanted to attend UCSB but got rejected. i dont know if the will still consider SB with the ELC thing!

what is someone’s chance of getting into ucla if they got into ucsb…on a foreign language major?

haha i think the anxiousness is getting to all of us…the guy asked a simple, albeit not very smart question, and everyone’s bashing him…

THE LETTER MEANT NOTHING!
ACCEPTED TO UC SANTA BARBARA!
I’m happy. Now I definitely have more hope for UCLA and UCB <3

^Congrats, bignerd. Is it a smart/logical decision to also be more optimistic about UCLA after getting into Davis?

Hey Congrats
I am an ELC student but did not get any email from Merced

Honestly, please don’t sweat over not receiving a letter from UC Merced. Our son was identified for ELC & has already been admitted to UCSD & UCSC Still waiting to hear if he’ll be a Bruin.

The ELC program was completely revamped this year. Yes, ELC is awarded for top 9% for students who will enroll in the fall of 2012. In years past, you were pre-accepted to certain UC schools (UCB, UCLA excluded). Not anymore…it became less important this year. However, I have a family member who is “in the know” & said that being identified for ELC, with regard to applying to UCLA, will give you bonus points when your application is being reviewed; this is nice as in years past, being identified as ELC didn’t give you an advantage for UCLA at all!

Don’t torture yourself by reading the tea leaves while waiting for this Friday’s decision. Best of luck to all!

its mean that you are not accepted out right. and that hurts. hmm. its sucks to know that you are borderline. its like that 89.9% in a class.

AceAites, It really wouldn’t surprise me if all of the UC Campuses know what each other one is doing (who applied, who they’re accepting/rejecting). Is there anything in writing somewhere that says that they have absolutely no access to decisions of other schools?

Question #3 is sort of answering your question.

The answer to question #3 is a blatant lie, see [this thread](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/1306509-those-who-also-applied-ucsc-what-does-mean.html)

But that’s for the Holistic Review.
LA and Berkeley give the results to SC based on who applied to SC +LA/Cal.
So, it is sort of different.

I guess the letter I got from UC Merced doesn’t mean rejected to all!
I got in to UCSB and UCI!
Still waiting on UCLA and UC Berkeley!
Keeping my hopes up!
