I got rejected from UIUC.I don't know why.I had a sat score of 2120 and near perfect sat 2 score and a 3.9 gpa but my friend got accepted with a 1920.Does asking for financial aid can affect the decisions? Please help.I have really started doubting myself

UIUC doesn’t give aid to Internationals.

^ Yeah, UIUC doesn’t give aid to Internationals! :)

Essays matter & so does your high school record. All you need to get rejected by a good university such as UIUC is lack of knowledge about the college or grammatical error(s) such as this:

Rishav17, you are sarcastic. :P

The admission process of US universities is not objective. Yes asking for financial aid reduces your chances.

UIUC is not the only university where you would have applied. You will get at some better university which is made for you. Do not doubt yourself at all.

@codeguy - No, I’m not! I call it as I see it!! :p

I am not referring particularly to the op but finally we see an example of the so called “talented” student according to Indian standards lagging behind the relatively weak student according to the same standards. Also, we should vote to remove the “A” from the “SAT”.

What do you think A stand for…I think they already changed the meaning of A!!

And rishav…Wise “call”:D

^ LOL good one babanrao :p

Lol babanrao

I need to LOL.

OP: You applied for aid? :O

Actually the A in SAT is justified.

The SAT doesn’t test your knowledge or memory, it tests your thinking & reasoning skills! :)

As far as the OP’s case is concerned - I actually think it is a bit weird, cause UIUC with it’s high acceptance rate admits almost everybody with a good GPA & SAT score!!
(Note UIUC doesn’t give a Schit about SAT Subject scores and don’t pay much heed to ECs in making decisions)

So the only things I can think of is that - the OP wrote a terrible essay, is hiding something about his school marks or is a ■■■■■!! Haha!! :D

^ What a guy! :p

Edit:-
And the guy deletes his post!! LOL!! HAHAHAHA!! :D

^^ Yep really awesome response :D

Hey.dont blame the guy…actually even a friend of mine who had the same SAT’s as I did…got rejected UIUC…
hEY RIshav…btw…what did de write on the deleted post:)

@quiver - no one’s blaming the guy - just giving him possible reasons as to why it happened!! You can never really say with admissions - some go in your favor and some don’t!!

And the deleted post was from some guy with a username - sansone or something similar saying
"The question is not why you can’t get admission into U.S. colleges with financial aid but what is wrong with the Indian education system. The more important question is what you are doing about it… "
^ I mean really?? :p

The comment in the first quote seems justified after reading the second quote:D

LOL. Lots of wise folks around. :p

a COOL guy he was! :P
