Rejected!!

Yea i applied for ed2 and was bummed to not get in, not even a deferral, a little surprised. I got into Stonehill, Michigan and Indiana-bloomington so far and am waiting on four other schools. Its so arbitrary, I mean getting into Michigan and not BU? Isn’t that a little wierd? Oh well, I did bad on my SAT’S but did well on SAT 2’s, relatively speaking…strong recs, great ec’s, oh well…congrats to all you who got in!

kellyconn1: I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't really understand why you got into Michigan but not BU...something similar happened to one of my friends this year too. When did you find out? Do ed2 applicants find out before RDs? Also, where are you from and what are your stats (if u don't mind)?

well it happens, i am over it, found out about two weeks ago. my stats weren't great, 590/620/630 and math 1c 640 and literature 590. Out of state, NY. What happened to your friend? I had good recs, strong ec's, went to their summer program,etc........I mean i know i was not at the top of their scale but nor was I at the very bottom. Oh well, I am meant go go elsewhere!

You applied ED and found out in March? I don't think so...

Well, she moved here at the beginning of senior year from Michigan. She got in at Ann Arbor but was surprised to find out that she didn't get into a few of the UCs, namely UCLA. The in-state/out-of-state thing didn't help her either, I guess, since she technically isn't considered a CA resident. Anyway, it's tough, but you've just gotta move on...who knows what the adcoms are thinking. Where else did u apply?

kcirsch: It's ED2...they find out later.

All the ED IIs I know of found out mid Feb.

I was deferred on Valentines Day for ED II?

I'd like to know what the accept/reject/defer statistics are for this first year of ED1 and ED2. I've heard of a few deferrals on this forum. My friend told me of another one: her daughter's boyfriend in NJ was deferred.

It makes me wonder if BU isn't becoming more and more selective. Or did the admissions department implement a new strategy because there are two ED plans? For example, when there was only one ED, if you had average to above average but not WOW stats, you would be admitted. Now, BU can take a "wait and see" attitude because there's another ED round in a couple of months. BU can skim the cream of the academic crop from both ED rounds, and depending on how many students were admitted ED1, it might be easier to be accepted ED2 with average to above average stats.

I got into COM under EDII....

What are your stats, hairspray_king?

Congrats, btw!!!

I'm an international student, so my stats are a bit different..
O-levels: 7As and a B
A-levels: 2As
High School Rank: 23/293
SAT I: 1980 (620/760/600)
SAT II: 730 Math II, 750 Math I, 730 Physics
Common app essay was just about okay but COM essay was very good.....Had some very good work experience(including Advertising and Television internships)....and okay eca's....

Shiba, northeastern,bc,villanova,gw,ucsd, occidental, ameican, all still waiting to hear! I so far got into Michigan,Indiana-bloomington(part scholarship),stonehill. I would consider Indiana if I don't get into any of the reaches above. On Americans portal there is a AU # for me which I thought maybe was encouraging, but seems like everyone gets that, right? How about you, whats your first second and third pick?

My first pick is Fordham, mainly because of the location. I was really bummed when I didn't get into NYU (Stern) ED, and I still want to go to school in NYC. My second choice is BU and my third is BC. I think I have a better shot at Fordham and BU than I do at BC, but then again, who knows. So far, I have gotten into American and USF. I also applied to USC and two UCs (UCLA and UC Berkeley) and got rejected from UCLA (big surprise :) ). I'm not really sure--are UCSD's decisions posted online yet? I thought they were... For UCs, it's harder to get in out of state. Don't fret too much about not hearing from the rest of your schools yet. I have a feeling that we'll all know a lot more this coming week...

usf as in univ. of san francisco? a good buddy of mine got in and actually is going, he loves that place more than anything. bc is tough and i think bu is too, i know i am not getting in but will take a deferral over a flat out no. good for the ego. this week will be a big week for all of us, good or bad. a really good friend of mine is literally in a nervous breakdown state right now because he got rejected from harvard, he is total harvard material and both his parents went there, it was a shock to our whole school. so makes me thankful that i applied to at least a few schools i know i can get into. nyu stern is tough, how about kelley school of business at IU? That is #10 in the country, if you want to study business. Good luck, man.

Oh, sorry...ya, USF (University of San Francisco). Your friend that got rejected from Harvard sounds exactly like my best friend. She's valedictorian at my incredibly large public high school of around 700. She has a 5.2 weighted GPA w/ at least 2200 SATs, has taken every AP and IB class possible at my school (and that's A LOT) w/ two science classes per year (a few through independent study). She has so many extracurriculars that it would take me a day just to post them all. Some are: hospital volunteer for 3 years, NHS president, varsity basketball player (4 years), drum major...the list goes on and on. Anyway, she got deferred from Stanford EA (her #1 school). Granted, she has gotten into USC and UCLA so far but, come on Stanford, what's your problem? Wow! That was a lot of venting, and it wasn't even about my college trials and tribulations (lol). Good luck to you too! I hope you hear something soon.

Also, I don't know why u got rejected instead of deferred from BU. Which school did u apply to?

4.4 uc gpa
2200 SAT I
770 IIC
700 chem
100+ community service hours
tennis team
badminton team

got rejected from UCLA

That really sucks, piypgm, you are definitely UCLA material. It was a reach for me. Are you from out of state? Where else did u apply?
