has anyone gotten rejected or heard about getting rejected from psu yet?

I would like to know also... I'm very nervous...
I should be getting my letter soon.

i honestly dont think many poeple who are rejected would post it. ahah idk, good luck to all

I have to agree with FrankBob on this one.

I'd suspect those students may be on to other threads.

i'm not ashamed to admit that i got rejected from psu university park. i happen to have been accepted to other schools, though, and i know i'll be much happier at a school that recognizes me for who i really am, instead of just numbers on a piece of paper.

my sats were

math 550
reading 580
writing 630

3.68 gpa/4

my mom WAS also a donating alum. oh, and i visited the school last spring break.

oh well, their loss. good luck to you all, though.

Sorry to hear that. Admissions seems to be tricky at PSU. All the best to you wherever you enroll.

I had one kid rejected two years ago with similar stats (slightly lower GPA) and one kid accepted this year with the same GPA but higher SATS -- and our guidance counselor said that the second kid was going to be a reach school (I think the ACT test put it over, since the ACT score was a 31). She said PSU was all about numbers, and flashed a chart at us which showed that my kid was marginal with a 640W, 640M and 700W, 3.65-3.70 GPA. At this point, I'm questioning why PSU is as selective as it is for non-engineering and meterology programs since the cost isn't so great after you weigh financial aid packages elsewhere, the housing situation is poor, internet access has restricted bandwidth, etc., Is it the ice cream and the football team? Or the Newsweek rankings? I agree -- good luck next year with the alternative school you select. My kid is still weighing college choices too...it's a tough process, but next year will be great for all of you.

I just got my Smeal University Park rejection letter in the mail. They're asking me to choose two other campuses. What PSU campuses would be next best after University Park?

my stats were
660m 550cr 670wr
3.7uw/3.9w
top 10%
New Jersey

My mistake was probably applying as an accounting major rather than undecided, and not sending my December SAT scores (670m, 570cr, 690wr).

Dani747-
If you are still interested in UP, you might consider calling admissions, and asking them if they would reconsider your application with your updated scores. Also, if you are willing to start during summer session, they might reconsider. The worse thing they can say is 'no' and the best thing they can say is 'yes'.

I probably will call. Like you said, the worst thing they can say is 'no.'

if it's all about numbers, does PSU take into account the kind of school kids are coming from??? is a B from a student from a very rigorous private school where the mean SAT is 1300 really the same as a B from a big regional public school where the mean score is 1050?

my daughter is still getting the "under review" message. i think her weak GPA 3.2 (stemming from a bad freshman year at a very, very demanding school) will totally do her in....

oh well, i'm hoping she'll fare better with schools that look at more than just a bunch of aggregate numbers and will notice things like an upward trend in grades....

I don't believe they "weight" schools @ PSU. Generally, unless a student is an eye-popper, this is essentially aggregate #s. Before and after the fact. No surprises there. Live by the #s ... and die by them.

Behrend is probably the next best campus after UP.

Why Behrend?

The most selective branch by far.

It's good for science.
