What college did you apply to? When did you submit your application?

I applied to Penn State main campus and applied on about dec 20th I think. It was funny actually, I called and asked and he said, "well, we have very competitive applicants etc etc" and then he was like, "oh, ok, I just pulled up your file. Yeah, you just applied to late we were already mostly filled up, but you'll probably get in on the wait list. and if you commit to summer now..." started to remind me of a car salesman.... but yeah. oh, well.

alexsmol - maybe you didn't know it at the time but you took a risk by applying after the priority deadline. Did your GC tell you that?
Spots fill up early and they have to start wait listing kids with great stats...especially those who applied to tough majors (like Smeal).
Go ahead and call though.
If last year is a guide, most waitlisted kids get in - PSU just have to be REAL careful or else they have too many kids in the end (happened a couple of years ago and dorms were overflowing!).
Good luck.

What actual college did you apply to? College of Engineering, College of Business (Smeal), Liberal Arts, DUS, etc.

I think PSU has become cautious after what happened two years ago. There were students who spent the entire year (or close to it) in supplemental. In S's dorm, the study lounge was converted into housing. So there was no study lounge for the students. It was nice to get it back this year.

Last years WL #'s: 1828 waitlisted; 1704 accepted place on waitlist; 1356 admitted from WL.
