Rejected!

ok. don't feel so bad. the majority of you, if not all of you are still waiting for letters and still have a chance. I applied to only one school, because that one school was the only one I really really liked. And I got rejected. And I don't have letters to look forward to. So it ****es me off when kids still have a chance to go to boarding school, and they are complaining about it. I don't want to be bitter. I'm just saying. Look at the glass half full, not the glass half empty.

It really ****es me off ㅡ_ㅡ Are those schools trying to be Exeter or something?.....

Katchakern, my D applied to only one school two years ago and like you did not get in. Then last year she applied to several schools and was admitted to a couple great BSs. The one she goes to she absolutely loves it, even though it wasn't the "one" school she had her heart set on the year before. So, although I don't know what grade you are in or anything, if you do want to go to a BS, it might be a thought to apply to 3-5 schools next year and give yourself a little bit of leeway. It is kind of the same as applying to college; most people don't apply to just one school. I'm so sorry and trust me I can feel your pain. It was hard for my D a few years ago and there are no magic words to make a person feel better.

thanks hpflrent. Unfortunately, I'm in the 10th grade now, so I'm not going to be applying to boarding school for just the 12th grade. I'm really happy your daughter found a good school, though. And you're right. I shouldn't pick just one college. But this rule doesn't apply for me to boarding school. You see, the last time I applied to boarding schools I got rejected because of not enough FA (and that was the reason on the letter. I'm not making it up.) So this year, when I was looking for boarding schools, I was looking for a school with the best financial aid program. And exeter had it. So that's the only school I applied to. I'm just trying to get over it now, think of the positive, and think that everything happens for a reason. It gives me consolation to know that someone like you know what it feels like right now. Just for reference, how long did it take your daughter to completely recover from the rejection?

She actually was waitlisted at first and then rejected so it was a long, long spring and summer, but she did try out for a play and also tried out for a position in a club at her school and got both of those things, so that did help, you know, getting knocked down and then having two really great things come her way. I think that spending a lot of time with her closest friends really helped, and of course in some ways they were glad she wasn't leaving so they made her feel very wanted at home at the school she was at at the time. I wish you the best of luck as you turn your emphasis toward college. In some ways it is good to apply to BS because applying to college is very much the same. It kind of gives you a practice at essays and crazy questions and applications.

aww sorry!
Good job for kent! My friend devon was accepted too :)

Ok, everyone I see has begun to see positive results! (=
Sadly I was waitlisted at Middlesex but I was accepted to Concord and Canterbury as well. I am going to Kent this fall if Middlesex does not contact me before April 10.

Why aren't you considering Concord, Aussie? (IMO, it's a better school (# wise), but Kent might be a better fit for you?

Yeah, I clicked better with Kent then Concord, and in Concord they are so strict!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In Kent they like to pary dude, nah Im kidding. lol
I have a lot of reasons! The schools campus is much much nicer, it has more AP courses then Concord, the girls are better looking, lol, kidding.
