2330 sat, 4.0 gpa using cmu's scale, diverse ECs, strong recs and essays... rejected from scs. Dunno what else I can do. Waiting for Cornell but that's doubtful now. Anyone get in tonight?

Nah. I got straight rejected too. ;D But your stats are much stronger than mine, so I’m not surprised I got rejected. Oh well.

Hope Cornell works out for you…I’m waiting to hear from them too.

kwonos: Damn man, that is terrible. My stats were much lower than your’s so I wasn’t that surprised getting rejected, but your case is just rotten luck. SCS must be extremely selective this year.

feral and i got in…and a couple of others
i got into mcs…so that might be completeeelyy different

Yeah, it probably is different, as looking through the decision thread, no one in the second wave seems to have gotten accepted by SCS. A few were waitlisted though.

REJECTED.
cold blooded cmu.
haha. no problem, Cal’s for me! :)

they don’t call it rejection…they call it NOT ADMITTED.

like that makes us feel sooo much better :(

SAT 2110, SAT2 800 800 760, CGPA 4.0(high school, 3.58 college first sem).

And my CMU supplement essay was my fav too.

mooches around and waits for the ivies

I’ll just go to UDub…

so long CMU subforum, and grats to those who got admitted.

I got waitlisted for SCS (only applied to SCS)

ACT: 35/36, GPA (UW): 3.96, SAT2: 800, 780, National Merit Finalist, diverse ECs including many leadership roles (including leading the advanced programming team at CMU pre-college)

I went to pre-college, got a letter of rec from an instructor at CMU pre-college, and wrote my strongest essays for CMU. I seriously have no clue why I was not accepted. Other than doing slightly better on my grades, I can not understand how I am not the perfect applicant.

@effward. What classes did you take at the pre college program and what grades did u get because im attending the ap ea this summer and am going to apply this fall to SCS.

brownboy, just so that you have another data point, I took 15-100 and 16-221 at AP/EA last year, got A’s in both, and got a strong rec from my 15-100 professor.

Was admitted to SCS this year.

are the decisions online or did they come in the mail?

Decisions are coming out at different times. They started sending them Fri Mar 20. After your letter is sent by admissions, there will be an online status update four days later. Most people have been finding out online first since snail mail hasn’t been making it to homes in 4 days.

i was rejected to pre-college last summer… through diversity :P. Admitted RD to SCS.

During my on-campus interview, I brought up the fact that I was already rejected to CMU once and my interviewer stopped me mid-sentence and explained that they look for certain types of candidates for the diversity program… I could only smile knowing well that white male probably was not what they expected when they created a diversity program. (but hey, they waitlisted me before they closed the door completely!) Oh, and I got a sweet application fee waiver just for applying. lol

Waitlisted as SCS here too. I’m assuming there is slim to none chance of coming into SCS off of the waitlist? Oh well, still waiting for Cornell and if it is a no go there I will be off to a good LAC.

THis must really have been a tough year. I was quite suprised that my son got rejected (and not even waitlisted). He had a 35 ACT and a 3.81 GPA with a very touch schedule and pretty good ECs. The only thing that may not have been strong was his class rank because his school doesn’t weight grades (not even for ranking purposes), but everyone keeps saying that they are supposed to adjust for that. Oh well, he got into his first choice anyway, so it’s not a big deal - just a surprise. I feel better seeing the impressive stas of some of the other folks that were rejected or waitlisted.

Anyone get rejected from CIT?

i got rejected from CIT-chemE.
really depressed cuz i really wanted to go there.
waiting for some ivy schools but doubt ill get any positive replies from them.
well i guess i have to be content with USC.

rejected for CIT-ECE with 4.00 unweighted GPA and 1440/1600 and 33/36 superscore.

Why why why why why?

(I’m sure its my 680 math-2 score)

Lol they should call it the rejection committee because it sure as hell rejects more people than it admits. :D

i was waitlisted-CIT…but you guys are better than me :s

best of luck guys for whatever decisions are left…

@futureEE

doesn’t every good school reject more people than they accept…
