"Thank you for logging in to the UC San Diego application status site for Fall Quarter 2010 undergraduate applicants. We have carefully reviewed your application and regret that we are unable to offer you admission to the University of California, San Diego. The selection process was very difficult this year due to a record number of highly competitive applicants.

From tritonlink.

Wow denied…

1920, 4.44 W/3.71 UW

Son rejected today.

3.55 GPA w
28 ACT

Mechanical Engineering.

We knew it was a long shot, but he has lots of volunteer hrs, first generation, hardship, etc.
Now we’re waiting to hear from UCSB.

I’m gonna call in on Monday and get to the root of how I was denied. Then, try for an appeal… if not… looks like I’m gonna be at UCI

The website said that they had 48,000 freshman applicants and about 3,700 spots. The competition was fierce this year. I’d love to know what the point cutoff was this year though.
Good luck with everything!!!

That’s…slightly less than an eight percent acceptance rate this year. :o

^ noo, man-you got it all wrong. They have 3700 spots for actual admission. So out of like 48000, they will admit lets say about 15000-but not all 15000 of them are going to go to UCSD-so from those 15000-they have spots for only 3700 of them

Denied
2110 SAT
3.73/4.1 UC GPA

Not even winter admit…flat out rejection.
UCSD was my first choice. I feel so heartbroken. Can I call them to ask how many points I got?

Ohhhh I see, so it’s closer to 30% or so. xD
My mistake, I hope UCSD doesn’t see that or they might worry about accepting me for engineering.
I’m sort of in a happy shock right now, I keep thinking it’s all a mistake, even though I definitely had the stats for it.
^_^

bro, im pretty sure everyone who got rejected is in a “happy shock” haha-looks like its off to to UCI for me-
does anyone know-is it seriously super-asian? I swear i went to both UCSD and UCI last year, and i saw more asians at SD

UCI is more super-asian, but both really are. Not that I care one way or another; what race people are shouldn’t matter at all. Yet for some reason people still continue to mention it and discriminate by it. Pointless, imo. People are people, they all have the same genetic code up to 99.9%. That’s almost no difference, scientifically.

Rejected, but it was my reach anyway so yeah. Hoping for UCI/UCSB/UCD.

rejected.
haha

accepted into Revelle. I’ve heard you can’t necessarily switch your college, but you can switch your major right? What are the impacted majors?

Rejected

SAT: 1920 (CR: 640, M: 590, W: 690)
GPA (UW): 3.49
Rank: top 5% at a large public school

Rejected…
I’m dying a little inside, and I still haven’t heard a word from Irvine yet. This was my favorite UC, along with UCSB (hopeful there.) I didn’t even try for LA or Berk.

2100 SAT, 720 M2, 620 Phys… APs were all 4s & 5s. GPA: 4.3, 3.97 UW. Bags of sports and ECs. Not too much community service though. Missed ELC at my school by one person (which is really upsetting.)
I thought that I would make it in, as previous years had about an 80% acceptance rate for people with a 4.0+ GPA, but guess I didn’t cut it.

Oh, and Bio major, pharma chem alternate. I think that the science majors are particularly selective at SD. Ah well, this is really demoralizing… I feel like I have no hope at the Claremont Colleges then. -___-

■■■. waitlisted

2260 SAT. 4.2~ wgpa.

multiple sports, community service, multiple awards.

honestly ***? maybe i shouldnt have applied for BioE:Biotechnics

■■■. 2 rejections in a row and this was my dream school.

Rejected…Im kind of surprised, I thought I had a chance of getting in. Oh well UCSD wasnt on of my top choices.

TsangBokyan, UCSD is pretty crazy to waitlist you. Those are some high stats.

I can’t even log-in to check, but I have a hunch that I’m rejected anyways.
