Rejected

I am going to call them on Monday, to find out exactly where I fell short.

The Legend im totally with you-2 rejections to my 2 top schools. Im hoping Davis will bring me some good news this week, but im actually kinda doubting it.

Those of you who have 2100+ SATs, and 4.1+ GPAs, that’s ridiculous. How many of you are there?? There are people last year from my school (A Newsweek top 500 school) who got in with ~1700, and ~W GPA of <4.0.

rejected here too.

i was totally expecting it, but they gave my house a phone call the same day that many people got an acceptance phone call. kinda rose my hopes up, but i knew it was less than a 1% chance of me getting accepted.

oh well. mid tier UC’s and UCSC are now my alternate goals.

^Don’t think of the UCs as having “tiers”. They’re all great places and you’ll succeed at any of them. :)

does anyone know when Berkeley lets everyone know their admit decisions??

^March 25th

@einnob im not even one of the worst cases - go to the waitlisted w/ stats thread, theres a guy with an insane amount of sports, good gpa good sat and 8 aps… i feel sorry for him

this really was my first choice school. i was set on going to this school even before i started the app. im truly sad…

@silverfang i know what you mean. all the ppl from my school previous years got in with way lower stats… whats going on?

jw, does school rank (in california) have anything to do with it? my school used to be great (public - Santa Teresa High School, San Jose, CA) but now the standardized tests scores are down the drain, and we are the school to “take in” all the “troubled kids” from the ghetto schools like yerba buena >.<

Sweet~ Rejected! I haven’t gotten any e-mails from Irvine, so I think I’m pretty much screwed. I hope I get in at least one UC. :V I didn’t sign up for Merced or Riverside, though…

@silverfang. I also got waitlisted, and have a 2100/4.2 gpa. I did however get into Harvey Mudd, which is a way better engineering school, and supposedly a lot more selective. But whatever haha, ucsd was my safety and I got into my first so…

blackroses, i wish i applied there. i didnt know about it all, and i just read about it, looks awesome. have a great time there!

mintymint, you really should have. i got my acc. from riverside with regents (5k a year). i really really dont want to have to go there, but since UCI only gave me chp and im assuming no money, i dont know… but dont worry about uci since they will keep sending out for a while to come

I honestly think UCSD screwed it up a little this year with the record number of applicants. I have a 4.1 UC UPA and 1970 SAT (with 1 varsity sport that made it to state and 200+ volunteers hours and internship n leadership roles) and was rejected while I know one kid who had a 3.55 UC GPA and a 2010 SAT and the other with a 3.7UCGPA and a 30 ACT who got accepted (none played a sport but one had some volunteer hours). Its become so obvious that this “holisticness” by UC’s is soooooo BS, I really think SATs come number one and a lot of it is random and luck because of the high number of apps.

Rejected =(

@skaterboy: i’m sorry :[ i HOPE they didn’t screw up though… last year they sent acceptances to the wrong people so if that happens again this year then that’ll crush a lot of my friends

Skaterboy - Me and my friend were talking about this. Basically, the future of the UC’s is going to be fat guys with glasses honestly. I guess being athletic AND academically talented just isn’t good enough anymore when someone else has a higher SAT. Holisticness. Bs.

Rejected too :/

GPA- 3.7 (UC)
SAT-2020
200+ volunteer hours

oh well, still waiting on UCSB :)

Don’t whine if you didn’t get into UC. That’s just how it is.

@abraham i think thats not to be worried about. by holistic review, they can take things into consideration like race, “hardships”, etc. to have excuses to admit less qualified over those qualified. a high tier university system like UC should be about academic excellence, not mediocrity. being athletic and academically talented will get you in, but not athletic and academically less-than-stellar.

what ****es me off is my sat/gpa/sports/instruments/communityservice hasn’t gotten me in, but alot of others have gotten in on less.

rejected :frowning:
3.92 uc gpa
2140
760 (math), 750 (chem)

praying for davis! :)

I am truly amazed at the high GPA’s and SAT’s that have been rejected.
