Alright thanks, I’ll try to do that tonight. I think thats the only thing that I can get points for that I didn’t mention on my application. Also, what could you say to get the special circumstance points? I mean do your parents have to die or something? Like what do you need to get the less serious event points?

Ok, I called them and here is what I got…

They give me all their admissions stats and stuff and how they had to turn down good students, etc… Then for my application, I was at like 7595, the cut off was like 7744. I got points for my GPA, SAT’s, some summer stuff, some leader ship, some special stuff. I don’t think they gave FULL points in the EC categories such as special, summer, cs, etc… I think I got a little of each which is what held me back. But the guy said, looking up and down, the GPA was the biggest factor holding me back… (■■■). He also said Major did not matter and the decisions were independent of all UC’s, so CC was right on that.

So, anyway, with that point total, did I even have a realistic chance? I knew my GPA was going to screw me over. That was the easiest to control… =(

rejected :(

3.8 UC gpa
2070 SATI
720, 680 SATII

little EC’s

oh woops, indian, i thought he was posting a take and retake… lol. 2400 would be awesome… lol

Rejected :(. I applied on a whim though.

Rejected too, but I was lmao when I saw it. I already got accepted to a couple of other schools. I’ve been trying to convince my parents to let me go out of state, but they want me to go to a UC because its cheaper. Hey I tried…

i just realized that i never put first gen college student when i applied!!! thats 300 points right there! and i was on the edge too!!! what should i do??

so many others at my school with 3.5 weighted, 1900 something SAT and a couple of EC got in

i have
2060 SAT
700, 720 SAT2
4.2 UC GPA
top 12% of nationally ranked high school (almost got ELC)
played 2 sports
honor and service society
multiple clubs
300+ hours community service
not even waitlisted.

When you guys called UCSD, is it basically the appeal person telling you whether or not you can appeal? I’m already starting to think of things for my appeal letter, but since the 2010 appeal info hasn’t come out I’m not sure whether to even bother yet if I don’t have the green light from the admissions people…

I could potentially get a C changed to a B- and I neglected to mention my 200 hours (I accidentally put ~140 instead)… I want to know whether this could make or break my admission.

Omg guys, such a solemn mood in here. I know how you feel though.

I’m a transfer, waiting for my admission as well, but I really want you guys to cheer up. I mean, it’s bad enough getting rejected. You guys are copying the rejection letter and posting it. I mean, if it helps you feel better, then do it, but don’t start comparing yourselves.

Just know, you guys are unique individuals, who college admissions do not have the privilege of knowing personally. They cannot tell you who you are. If you love a campus that much, go to a CC, then transfer. Save money! Or, you might turn out to love the campus that’s your 2nd choice.

Cheer up, everything will be ok… there is also graduate school, don’t forget. If you’re motivated enough to research admission stats, I know you’re considering grad school :].

plus, if you really want to go here, or any UC in cali, simply go to a CCC first…

sure it may seem like a stigma, but its a lot cheaper, you can slowly adapt to college experience, and if you take it seriously you can get a TAG into any school you want. i got accepted into UCSD with an easy TAG…

i would much rather of had the past 2-3 years to be at a university, but ive had my fun here at home and now im on to that tradish college experience. take it into thought

ajdavidson, what is TAG, i’d like to research that.

the saving money aspect is persuasive… ill have to think about it

I was rejected too.

1800 SATI

IB/AP Student, 14 IB/AP classes total including this year.
I am a first generation college student.

I’m going to call admissions tomorrow to see where I went wrong…I think my SATs killed it and lack of EC?
But I don’t have high hopes at this point.

accepted!! Wahoo

Tsang-
TAG is a Transfer Agreement Guarantee: a contract that a CCC student can pursue in order to transfer from a “2 year” CCC into a “4 year” university. TAG requires a 3.0 gpa, IGETC certified, declaring a major, 60 units transferable, and finishing english/math reqs before spring of transfer year. between the 9 different UC’s, each one has a different TAG program.

UCD- written contract that you must get with UCD admissions during your FALL semester BEFORE transferring. Must be IGETC certified and have all prereqs done per your major. has stipulations such as maintaining a certain GPA and so on

UCB- written contract that you must get with UCD admissions during your FALL semester BEFORE transferring. Must be IGETC certified and have all prereqs done per your major. has stipulations such as maintaining a certain GPA and so on. UCB does not accept TAG’s into Haas

UCLA- written contract that you must get with UCD admissions during your FALL semester BEFORE transferring. Must be IGETC certified and have all prereqs done per your major. has stipulations such as maintaining a certain GPA and so on

UCSD- easiest TAG to acquire, you check a box on the application and as long as you fulfill the basic TAG rules (IGETC certified, finished your math and english prior to spring before transferring, 3.0 gpa minimum) then you are in. they MAY change their practices after this year however

UCSB- similar to UCSD, but I did not research into it as much… they have a program too but i am almost certain there are more stipulations.

UCSC- IGETC certified, check a box, AND be competitive. they give a TAG to top applicants only, weird, but i got in.

UCI- written contract that you must get with UCD admissions during your FALL semester BEFORE transferring. Must be IGETC certified and have all prereqs done per your major. has stipulations such as maintaining a certain GPA and so on

UCM- i think this is the same as LA, I, B, and D… not positive tho because this is an easy school to get into IMO

UCR- once again pretty sure its the same as above.

ps IGETC is a guidline of classes in which you fulfill sectional requirements of GE classes such as english, math, social sciences, humanities, physical science and others. I would go and make an appointment with your local CCC with a councilor if i were you and have them outline what classes you can take within 2 years or less in order to transfer quickly.

I really really wish that i had started my university career sooner and wish i was out at a university starting at 18yr old, but i did what i had to do, saved money, got fin aid, and did work in order to get into a university i wanted. its a good route and def serves its purpose.

the only thing i would say is STAY motivated while you are there… a lot of CCC students are just going there to go to school, and not very motivated. i would say 10% of CCC students (at least at my school) actually graduate and transfer…its just laziness and lack of motivation.

ALSO, going to a CCC gets you an AA degree… means little to nothing in teh real word, but you can put it on a resume for jobs. i have 3 AA’s… you think joe shmoe with a high school diploma only is going to get the job over me? nope.

For anyone curious, the point total needed to get in this year was 7744. I called in and the first thing the admissions officer noticed when she pulled up my application was my GPA (3.6). For their point system, they use UC GPA, only counting A-G and up to 8 honors. When weighted with all my other years, I had a 4.45 GPA, which shocked me when she said that. I had 7118 points and was not given any points for being low income (<40,000 with a 4 person family) and personal struggles. I decided to submit an appeal. I doubt it will do anything but it’s good to try.
