I apologize if this question has been asked before.

Does West Point send rejection letters and if so, when are they usually sent?

For what it's worth, when my brother applied two years ago it got to be May and he hadn't heard anything so he called and they had to hunt for someone who finally told him he probably wouldn't get off the NWL and better make other plans...

Thanks for the reply. My son is trying to decide between Texas A&M and Virginia Tech. We are going to go ahead and send in the money but his dream school is West Point.

Tell your son good luck. I have a friend who goes to VT through the Marine's ROTC and he likes being there.

lizinva,

Remember to update his file with any end-of-the-year honors. I'm not sure if the final transcript would be a help or not, but anything that gives him a few more points to get him to be next on the list should be sent to Admissions. Good luck!

Do send in your money to school of choice. Can't hurt and if WP comes through, you might even ask to defer for a year as the ultimate back up plan.

If I'm not mistaken May 1 is the deadline for telling West Point whether you're going or not. I understand they're planning on a class of 1300 for 2010. So, they make offer more appointments after the May 1 deadline. Good luck.

envee06 -- is your friend at Norwich? That's where my brother is!

i think he meant virgina tech --vt.. not Norwich (which is in Vermont (VT))

two years ago in particular --if i recall the rumor was no one got off the nwl .. but I know a number did last year... and I think that is a better guide than the year before.

dont give up, but make REAL legitimate laternative plans, get a dorm room, schedule registration ... it is a few hundred dollars well spent

Thankyou for the responses. I will definately make sure he has a place to go in the fall. He is hoping it is West Point and so do I. As far as updates, I think he has been corresponding through the candidate website and he left a message for Major Romans today.

Whoa! I know Major Romans! Nice guy. Hey don't give up. Keep waiting there is still a chance! It's not May 1 yet.
