Just wondering, but what exactly do they say? Do they just say "Yeah, sorry, we don't want you?" I wonder how I would feel if I got one like that.

b u m p...

there is a thread here somewhere, but it is something like, we had so many wonderful applicants, it was a banner year, you were a great applicant, unfortuneately, we can't take everyone, blah blah blah

some are very nice and comforting, others a bit more abrubt

and some acceptences DO come in small envelopes

It probably basically says "We don't want you because you suck" in a polite and nice way.

Yeah I'd figure most rejection letters basically say wow, there was incredible competition and that they would gladly take in everyone but there's more qualified applicants than spots, or something like that I would guess.

After careful review of your application and supporting materials, we regret that we are unable to offer you admission. You were part of an exceptionally talented group of applicants.

Academic achievement continues to be the primary factor in our comprehensive assessment review process, though we also consider additional aspects of your application such as personal achievement, leadership, special talents, honors, awards, school and community service, and response to life challenges. Trained faculty and professional staff reviewed applications for the presence of these criteria and assigned credit when the skill, talent, and/or activity met our high standards.

If attending remains your goal, other opportunities for admission may be available to you. Eligible students who are not admitted by any campus to which they ahve applied may be offered admission by another campus. You may also consider attending a community college and later transferring.

Some of it's edited.

Yeah it says how there were so many qualified students and how hard it was to pick and unfortunately you didn't cut it.

I remember for the UCLA rejection letter, I thought the letter was pretty much saying "You are not good enough for us. We rather choose other ppl that's not you!"

Some schools should send a one page acceptance letter and the rest of the materials several days later. Just for kicks and giggles.

My friend says that Olin (eng) says "We would like to inform that you were not up to the high standards of the applicant pool" OUCHTOWN

Most say, you can always transfer later.
