Hello!
I just received a letter of rejection from Ole Miss. I honestly was not expecting this.

For non-Mississippi residents applying to University of Mississippi, the auto-admit threshold is:
* 2.50 HS GPA with 20 ACT or 940 SAT CR+M

My gpa. 3.87 unweighted. 4 years of physics, math, chemistry, biology, English, Latin, Spanish, history. ( I did take other classes as well) 1600 sat. Around 10 extracurriculars ( lead/ president in 4) received A and O level diplomas from the University of Cambridge, Graduated early with honors. Dual credit at University of Wisconsin receiving a 4.0 in level 300 classes... etc. I don't understand how I did not meet the requirements...
Ole Miss did have some type of problem with my transcripts in late January. They did speak to the head of my school and everything seemed fine.

How could anyone here know? Your records are very confusing with O and A levels but you were in dual enrollment at UW? You are international or what? Too confusing. You will have to talk to them anyway, seems like you should ask your head of school to make a phone call for you if you really want to go there.

possible explanations:
1° They’re rolling admissions. You applied later than most and the class was basically full, they wouldn’t take any OOS applicants regardless of qualifications.
2° There was a technical error.
3° You applied for a selective major whose admission criteria were well-above the automatic admission cut-offs
4° You’re international or have ESL on your transcript, but didn’t submit a TOEFL score OR don’t have sufficient amounts for them to deliver an I20
5° They thought you used them as a safety because your stats are higher than what they typically see and you didn’t demonstrate interest
6° Your essay said you really thought Southern Mississippi is your dream school.

Rather than speculate: Call them and ask - it sounds like you met the threshold so there may have been a problem.

I don’t see how the auto-admit figures you gave could be correct. There is no way they automatically let in anyone with a 2.5 and a 940. That is way too low.

Of course, whether the OP is real is another matter, since s/he claims to have “received A and O level diplomas from the University of Cambridge”, which is inconsistent since A(dvanced) and O(rdinary) levels refer to parts of the General Certificate of Education, a high school (not university) credential used in the UK and some other countries with similar systems.
