Hi, I usually lurk, but I had a question about the WA.

I read in this forum that if you get deferred from Michigan, they usually just send you a letter and doesn't update the WA. Is this true for rejection also?
Please answer to your best knowledge.

Thanks!

Edit: oh crap... meant to write Rejection ON WA ... I suck -_-;

My son called UM Admissions last week; he applied in October. They did not ask his name or ID number, but they said that he would have a decision in mid April.

Your son applied in October and they're holding off a decision until mid April? That's silly.

It shouldn't take SIX MONTHS to get a decision. It's unfair to parents and students who are trying to plan for college...apply for loans...scholarships...grants...etc.

The good news is that a friend of mine in the legislature tells me some reps are looking at this and may introduce legislation on it -- not just with regard to UM but all of Michigan's public universities.

They're taking hundreds of millions in taxpayer money. They owe you a little more consideration than to put your kid through the wringer like that.

omg.. MID april?.. this really sucks.. Aren't deposits due like.. may 1st?
By then, most kids would probably send their money to wherever school they were accepted in to. It's just so frustrating....

Oh, SpinBoy, that is so great, seeing as how the state government in Michigan has succeeded in turning the state economy into the new Mississippi, they can now turn their attention to fixing the problems at college admissions offices by legislation. I can sleep now.

I feel for SpinBoy, I applied in August last year, and wasn't rejected until late mid June (applied in August, deferred in November, waitlisted in late April, rejected in June). It was a painful 10 months, however, it was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

My regrets, but that's how Michigan does things. They push their date back to mid April, which isn't surprising; that's after the ivy league and top colleges send out their acceptances, so kids who use UM as a safety let them know that they aren't coming, and then that opens up a spot for the deferred kids.
