rejection stats?!

Maryland region?

Ohh. Actually nope, Massachusetts.
Btw Welsh your stats look really good, I don't know what happened. The stuff about NGOs and humanitarian aid is basically what I want to do later in life.

Thanks. It was a really good experience, regardless of whether or not it helps me get into college.

hey guys, joined this kinda late, but couldn't help but sympathize as well. i got rejected too, and i'm absolutely devastated.

Guys, just remember that the Lord (or for you not so religious peeps) Fate works in mysterious ways. Even though it sounds cliche` everything truly does happen for a reason. Since we didn't get in it means that Columbia TRULY IS NOT THE RIGHT PLACE FOR US. BE POSITIVE! I was mad at first, but I got over it. The Lord has bigger and better things in store for ALL OF US!!! :)

1430 SAT, 3 SAT II's 700+. Captain of sport's team, tons of APs, etc.
Rejected

deffered.. so much for hanukah miracles...

Chins up, everyone, you will get in somewhere great, regardless of how ****ty you feel right now. It's okay to be upset, but don't lose sight of the bigger picture. You're all awesome, talented and wonderful people, and Columbia is a fool not to have had accepted you.

BTW- Where is silver_wavez? I don't usually post on this board but I do tend to watch it, and I'm worried about her...

Rejected

What i thought was a decent essay...
FBLA State oFFicer - 3 yrs First place state level - Gold silver medals on Nlatinexam- Nation MErit SEmifinalist, coordinator of Nationally sanctioned triathlon, strong recs, great interview, Heading Statewide community service project, 2nd place district for UIL Calculator...etc...

so much for 4 yrs of hardwork and 2 yrs of dreaming.
forever a dream

Gluck to all of you that still have a chance : )

wow columbia doesnt seem to like distinguished athletes...

My lacrosse and football didn't help me get in.

Welsh, glory, and others: Your stats are very impressive -- it seems there are no reasons at all for them to reject you! I could think of but one: did you apply for financial aid?

I'm applying RD so if you did apply for financial aid, please tell us so we'll know what we're up against.

By the way, I think Columbia made a big mistake to reject you. It's their loss, not yours!

Rejected: 1510 (800 v, 710 m). 620 writing, 690 us history, 700 lit.
3.92 uw, 4.42 weighted.

Applied for Financial aid

Yep, I did apply for financial aid. I have a twin brother who is applying to colleges as well, so we probably would have needed a significant amount.

Keep that in mind while applying RD.... it is possible that financial aid may be a factor somehow.

hmmmmm....where is silver?

Thanks for replying, freakish and welsh. So money does matter... Omg. Are you international? Because if you aren't, then it means Columbia lied about their need-blind policy for US citizens and permanent residents.

Deferred....I applied for financial aid

I'm a US citizen. If I knew that financial aid mattered, I would have applied without it. I don't want to sound bitter or anything, but I don't understand how me/Freakish/gl0ry got outright rejected and not even deferred.

Oh well, life goes on, I guess Columbia just wasnt for me....

smith, I don't see silver, either. There are 2 possibilities:

1) She woke up late so she didn't get to check her email before she went to school. She's at school now so she'll probably come on here when she gets home.

2) She gets rejected and is crying like crazy right now. Silver, if you're reading this, don't blame yourself. You could have got in with your stats. It's Columbia's loss, not yours.

Given her love (obsession) with Columbia, I think 1) is highly unlikely. Prove me wrong, silver!

Welsh, that explains everything. Columbia really doesn't deserve you. I'm sure the other Ivies will open their arms for you. Good luck to you, freakish, calla, and all the others! Wish you all the best. :)
