rejection stats?!

It's really hard to transfer. Practically impossible so that is NOT the best advice to be giving to people....Plus, would a CC person really want to be doing engineering for the next 4 years of their life? i think not. SEAS is def not the backdoor in.

Unless you love both CC and SEAS that you are willing to sacrafice the extra year for the combined plan.

=)

With that said, getting into Columbia college is hard, transfering to it from SEAS is [almost] IMPOSSIBLE. I guess it raises suspicions...

I mean first of all, transfering form ivy to ivy is no easy task for the fact they communicate with one another. And columbia accepts VERY few transfers, it seems just to fill up the class to where they want it, to make up for lost ones.

Collegebound is right. Just compare CC and SEAS SAT averages on collegeboard.com. SEAS' SAT average is about 1400 sth, whereas CC's is about 1300 sth.

I've always wondered why the avg SAT for Columbia College is 1350-1500(ish) when I don't know a SINGLE person that has a 1350 that got into Columbia, but I know a trillion peolpe w/ 1600s and 800 SAT IIs that have gotten rejections. You guys know?

athletes...one in my school had a 1250 and got in

me n my 1490 rejected

i know a dude with an 1160 who got in!! rest of his app was pretty good...So, yes SATs arent everything, but they are a part of the admissions process of course and you can be rej or acc based on ur SATs!

the unfairness kills me

same here!

i dont think that it is unfair that the kid got in with an 1160. The SAT does not measure intelligence, and as the person stated the other parts of his application was pretty good. The reason why he got in is because he was unique and stood out in the eyes of the admissions officers; but moreover, they felt as if this applicant was a good fit into Columbia.

yea smithk i agree with u
guys its not just about the numbers. the sat doesnt measure jackshlt. thats like asking why all these people with 1600's get rejected from good schools..because its not an accurate measure of anything besides, oh, a few analogies with words we're never gonna see again in our lifetime

no i totally agree that its not just a numbers game. its just hard to take when youve devoted so much of your time and energy to your education and it gets s slap in the face. i know columbia wouldnt accept someone with a lower score if they didnt posses a truly unique quality.

hey guys, just thought i'd share my stats...i too got rejected! :-(

SATS-1490 (780 math;710 verbal), SAT IIs- Math IC(720) Math IIC(750), Writing (770), weighted GPA=4.8 out of 5, Ap Physics-B in 11th grade, and 5 APs this year

Activities: soccer, indoor track, lacrosse (school team and elite team), Dance
(14 years), Drama Club(Head Choreographer), NHS(secretary), Girls Ultimate Frisbee Team(Founder and Captain), Science League, French Club, LOTS of volunteer work (Special Olympics, youth coaching, etc..)

Awards: English Award of Excellence (11th grade), PreCalculus Award of Excellence(11th grade), Dance tap competition(1st place), National Commended Scholar, Colby College Book award....and lots of summer activities (camps, summer theater(lasts all summer), volunteer work, etc...)

I have to admit I'm pretty disappointed, but I'm starting to like my Regular Decision schools more and more, and I'm sure I'll have a good time at whatever school I go to.... just wanted to share with everyone else who got rejected! I know how you feel! :-)

bermie..u know i think a mistake ppl make is that yes..they devoted soo much time into their education but at the same time they lost their personality, their life..when you u devote too much time..u allow it to define you and when it comes time to make yourself appealing to colleges..all you got is ur education as your life..and dats not sexxy haha..no j/k..thats not interesting..Education is important but you need to learn different ways rather than just from a book or test..and you gotta show that..
protest baby!

im gonna call just to see if i could get some more info outta em. i definitely have a balanced life. also, collegeboard forgot to send em my most recent sat1 score, which they didnt get til like 5 days before decisions were released. a call i shall make.
