Rejected from my reach UCLA.
Still waiting on USC, but I got into my safeties. I'm a little bummed out, but I'll live through it.

To those of you who are applying for '08, does that make you senior standing?

Yep...same here....rejected by UCLA...but got into all my safeties...

*sigh...lifes continous....

Good luck with y'all!!!!!

perfect serenity in fantasy. i wanted to go to princeton...but fantasy helped me to cope..

I don't understand people wanting to waste a whole year just go try for UCLA again. I hope you people know that companies will question you about something like this when your going in for an interview. They will ask you why it took you 5 years to graduate from a 4 year program (with exceptions for certains technical majors such as engineering). If it takes you 5 years to graduate and you aren't double majoring, that's a red flag for recruiters. If you didn't get into UCLA so what, just go to another school. Don't put your education on hold for a year just so you can get another shot at admission.

It is a red flag for a FEW recruiters. Look at the completion rates at colleges around the country. I do the hiring for a division of the company I work for and never have I looked at how long it took someone to complete their degree. I am sure I would notice if it took someone 10 years, or if 2 candidates were evenly matched other then that. Rarely will this have that large of an impact on job prospects.

"Crochet a sweater out of mint waxed dental floss."

LMAOOOO!!!!!!

It is a red flag for fortune 500 companies. I agree the completion rates at colleges show that most students take more than 4 years to graduate... and it makes sense. The 30-40% of those who do finish on the 4 year target are the ones who will have the advantage. So yes most college students take longer than 4 years to graduate, and that's exacally why not every student can find a job right after graduation.

Put it bluntly... if you are a fortune 500 company and are looking for someone who will work hard and perform in the workplace, would you give preference to someone who planned out their life and finished a 4 year program in 4 years, or someone who didn't?

Going back to the suicide thing, I think that people have no right to discourage those who want to take their own lives from doing so. They're their bodies, let them decide what to do with them.

Anyone appealing UCLA? I can help.

Reading Nietzsche again, laneb2005?

I am going to stay at CC for 1 more yr.... going to get TAP certified..

If I get rejected I'll put on a big smile and pretend I never even applied...

"It is a red flag for fortune 500 companies."

The one I work for wants me to stay and get into UCLA! Otherwise I have to leave my job if I move somewhere else. :) I have great stats though so I can't imagine I won't get into a different school. UCLA has not even rejected me yet but I am missing a prereq so I am sure it is coming.

Life is never this black and white. No matter how badly you want it to be. Also what gives you the authority to speak for all fortune 500 companies? I remember having this discussion with you before by the way.

anyone trying to appeal?

Hi,

I was rejected by CMC for spring 07. Wrote the best essays of my life. Teacher recs were excellent (I think for transfer recs, they were top-notched). Had a 3.76 GPA coming from UCI.

CMC hates me =(

I felt like crap for a while... but I got over it. You will too, just give it some time.

haha foxdie you got the right idea. I go to a really small top LAC where secrets are everyone's business and its a crime to not be thrilled at being here 24/7 so if I don't get in I'm definitely going to keep it on the down low. Of course, I'll be wailing inside and I'll probably go abroad until graduation.
